My sincerest & humblest apologies all! For the first time in my life, ever, 9pm, Christmas Eve & i actually just realised what day it was! π±β οΈ
No, i have no idea either but i guess that's what 2 years of near isolation can do to you (throw in painkillers, CF, fibro & depression)
Never assume that because you don't hear from someone everything is ok (the old, "no news is good news" {as all must be ok!}, they're just busy! Especially when it's such a landmark day & ppl are invariably wrapped up with their families. That's not always the case!
Why am i isolating at Christmas? 2 reasons:
π΅ many NHS staff appear to be falling ill despite being triple jabbed &
π΅ Studies seem to be showing effectiveness behind to wane a bit after 10 weeks.
So do you go meet your elderly mum, who's allowing my nephew to shuttle between..
.. Her home, his g/f & school for at least the last month (he's been been a teaching assistant)
For a start that's 3 households if i rocked up at mum tomorrow! Added to his many other hundreds of household he's had contact with via school....
π€ Makes me nervous!
As to that i know I'm not at my best!
I've had COVID once. I've already got the winter stuffy π, hot & cold sensation are a mess due to fibromyalgia (& kidney Tx function i suspect) not having had recent blood, not being able to talk to the consultant at the mo & last bloods 6mo
Ago, I'm sure you'll forgive my caution!
Besides, the tests aren't perfect in immunocompromised ppl & i can't afford a false negative! Plus, it's taken 2 weeks to calm my arthritic hands & wrists to the point i could drive & shop last wk, don't want to undo that!
How many of you with elderly, are risk family (as both my mum & nephew would be) have to make a calculated decision to keep themselves & others safe, just in case, rather than blindly rush in.
The concept of sacrifice send it the window these days but if the Queen can do it ...
then there's no shame on me for having to do the same & err on the side of caution, rather than take an unnecessary risk!
So enjoy your gatherings if you are! If you're not, you're #notalone this #Christmas! It may be tough but the prize is still being alive!
Feel free to chat
My #kidney#transplant was the best present i could have ever had! I'm happy to "unwrap" it not just once a year but every. Single. day. of. every. year! 886 days & counting!
It's Christmas every day here
It gave me the chance to live! I'm not dishonouring my donor by wasting it!
You've no doubt been aware in the wake off the council decision to cancel the eviction there's been meetings on meetings to try to sort something.
The safer homes lady is doing a grand job helping me, talking about what next, discussing where I'm at, etc.
....
Social services have been mostly silent! After 3 wks they finally call back to say they can only do domestic help once the place is cleaned & cleared out! π π€ As if i can do that on my own! A calculated decision to try to get out of having to do anything? ...
Let me ask you a question.
I presume you've heard the news of sacked health workers in France. (Only 5% max of all)
Before you scream foul, just for a mo, I'd like you to do something pls, put yourself in my shoes!
Why? - I've no immune system AT ALL!
A cold, the flu could kill
Btw, how are you feeling in those shoes, knowing there's all those bacteria & viruses floating around at work, that your kids being home, that you then take & spread, or you give to them & spread?
Are you still feeling comfortable?
Now let's say you need to go to hospital for a regular check. Your consultant needs to see you to take bloods!
You know hospitals are full of sick ppl!
All that coughing, spluttering, being sick, shouting; spreads germs, yes?
I'm sure you'd expect hand washing as a minimum!
Yes?
WHY? #NHS "trusts have continued to incentivise the practice, with GPs being offered bonuses to keep in person attendances low"
Why are MANAGERS doing this?
I've given up speaking to my GP surgery!
I'm at high cancer risk!
An existing rheumatology patient dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9β¦
I was told, days ago, if i couldn't get the bloods done that i needed (due to the #blood vial crisis) they'd have to cancel my apt & it would be a year till if get another!
Remember, I'm already in the system, classed as vulnerable due to being a Tx patient, this high risk!
1 yr!
The local GP surgery manager already hates me & has tried to have me removed. It's a rural practise (the only one) covering all the villages in a 10 x 5mi area!
So what if my recent round of tests haven't been forwarded & I'm not seen for another yr?
What if i were your 10yr kid?
