“The publication printed a mea culpa on the front page on the 40-year-old #DuchessOfSussex, as demanded by the UK Justice after #PrinceHarry's wife won a privacy case against Associated Newspapers filed in February 2019”lapatilla.com/2021/12/26/meg…
“This Sunday, the British newspaper took the blame w/ a statement at the end of its front pg. The note states that #MeghanMarkleWon the lawsuit for copyright infringement against ANL for articles published on Mail on Sunday & Mail Online.”noticiasaominuto.com/fama/1899672/e…
“Archbishop #DesmondTutu, Nobel Peace Prize laureate & veteran of South Africa's struggle against white minority rule, has died aged 90, the presidency said on Sunday.”
#HarryAndMeghan introduced Archie to the Archbishop during their 2019 tour.
“Archbishop Tutu will be remembered for his optimism, his moral clarity,& his joyful spirit. He was an icon for racial justice & beloved across the world…He remained a friend & will be sorely missed by all.” #RIPDesmondTutu
The Christmas gifts keep on coming as the Fail publishes judge’s ruling in #MeghanMarkle’s legal win. 🎁
“The #DuchessOfSussex wins her legal case for copyright infringement against Associated Newspapers for articles published in the Mail on Sunday and posted on Mail Online”
I’d say this puts the kibosh on any Supreme Court appeal from ANL. But by running the statement at the bottom of the page instead of in a front page box ANL is testing the judge’s requirement for prominence. I’d love to see Justice Warby force them to print it again.
The judge required ANL to print a “short report” of his decision not an apology. Although Meghan won her privacy claim, admitting invasion of privacy wasn’t part of the required statement. The judge designated the exact copy & that it should be on the front pg in 17pt Gotham Bold.
Update: ANL lost their appeal in the copyright lawsuit vs. #MeghanMarkle. The summary judgement that Justice Warby issued will stand. Meghan won both the copyright & privacy claims. ANL can still ask to appeal to the Supreme Court but success is unlikely.
“The publisher of the Mail on Sunday has lost a legal battle to overturn a High Court ruling on its publication of a letter written by #MeghanMarkle to her estranged father.” independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-n…
“Today, the courts ruled in my favor—again—cementing that The Mail on Sunday…has broken the law. The courts have held the defendants to acct,& my hope is that we all begin to do the same…These harmful practices don’t happen once in a blue moon—they’re a daily fail” #MeghanMarkle
#PrinceHarry “spoke with another set of [@DianaAward Legacy Award] winners from around the world in a virtual meeting held from his home in Montecito, California.”
“The princes' paid tribute to the young people from around the world who are #LegacyAward winners — the most prestigious accolade a young person can receive for their social action or humanitarian work that is handed out by @DianaAward every two years.”
“Among those Harry spoke w/ was a woman from the US Dian Chao, 23, from LA, who runs Letters to Strangers is receiving an award. Another American set for a #LegacyAward is Jahin Rahman, 18, from New York, who founded the non-profit Efforts in Youth Development of Bangladesh.”
“The gulf between what the public is being told about this case and its reality is so wide the two may be described as parallel universes, as was vividly illustrated by the hysterical scandal of the Duchess’s apology.”
“So why did the Mail & its allies make so much of it? What do they have to gain from creating this parallel universe? On 1 level the answer is simple. They hate the Duchess & so the slightest embarrassment 4 her brings them a joy to be celebrated as luridly & loudly as possible.”
“they are up to something more subtle: grooming the public to think that the evidence is all on their side. […] In suggesting that the Duchess is bound to lose, the UK corporate papers seem to be setting their readers up to be surprised when, as is ultimately likely, she wins.”
