By the 2024 election #TonyBlair will be the only person to have won an election for @UKLabour in half a century.
If you don’t think his 10 year term and record below merit a knighthood when the Lords is stuffed full of Tory donors, Claire Fox & and Ian Botham, I can’t help you.
This doesn't even include additional achievements like the 2008 Climate Change Act.
“But Blair and Brown were just Tory-lite!”
Er, bollocks.
Do you think if we give Jeremy Corbyn a sainthood these eye-poppingly bad general election losers will stop going on about him and we can focus on the serious work of getting the most right wing, venal, dangerous, incompetent and dishonest government in history out of office?
I left the Labour Party over the Iraq war and have yet to rejoin or vote for it again. But the narrative in some quarters about New Labour’s record in government overall is utterly absurd. Mostly propagated by people too young to recall it. It was a billion times better than this

1. Johnson presides over more chaos, more scandal/ dodgy behaviour comes to light. There will be more PR disasters where barely sentient backbenchers defend the impossible under orders before he u- turns. They get more furious/
2. Polls get worse and worse, especially in Red Wall and other marginal areas as the pandemic drags on, and, more importantly, the utter calamity that is #Brexit starts to really bite. Tory members continue to wake from their clown obsessed coma /
3. No one finds the PM amusing anymore. No one believes a word he says. There is a trigger event that proves the last straw. A leadership contest begins, Johnson resigns. Sunak, Truss, Hunt, Patel, Gove and one ERG backbencher enter?
The funniest WhatsApp exchange of all time, in which some carpet-bitingly mad Tory MPs froth at the mouth, before committed Christian Steve Baker deletes cabinet minister Nadine Dorries, who is also mad, from the group, declaring ‘enough is enough’. There is no happier Xmas.
Like every Brexit negotiator we’ve had, he leaves behind a trail of mess and distrust, and bewildered allies across the channel. It remains the stupidest thing a country has ever done to itself. #BrexitReality#BrexitHasFailed
At least the Tories will be able to have Lord Frost’s leaving party during a lockdown, the way they like it.
Mayor of London has said the vast, vast majority of hospital cases are unvaccinated. I'm so done with these rabid, stupid, foul people. They're the reason for all this panic about strain on health services. They are literally what is causing the restrictions to which they object.
Now imagine what could happen if Labour and the Lib Dems built a proper strategic partnership across the country (unlike last night). The Tories would be out for a generation, probably more. #NorthShropshire#ThePartyIsOver
If this was the Blitz the PM would be saying “basically keep lights on if you have to read, maybe you’ll read a bit less, perhaps you won’t. If you’re going to have a fireworks party it’s sort of up to you if you get bombed, buy a gas mask though, if you can”.
Utterly hopeless.
Dr David Nabarro of the @WHO is absolutely raising the alarm on @SkyNews right now. Quite terrifying actually. Feel quite sick.
I think Britain is about to find out the true cost of voting in populist nationalists who think individual responsibility is an appropriate policy remedy during a global pandemic.
At least they won’t want to vote in any more of them ever again, there is that.
