⚠️Totally “mild”—US pediatric #COVID19 hospitalizations nearly 2x last year’s all-time high. Kids shouldn’t be hospitalized—kids shouldn’t be getting #LongCovid. Kids have their whole lives ahead of them. Let’s protect the kids. 🙏

7) Schools are reopening soon. Don’t let #Omicron be the deceptive Trojan Horse 🐎 of the pandemic and be lulled into complacency. Hospitalization numbers soaring doesn’t lie.
8) Make sure to swab your kid’s throat (or at least the mouth) on COVID tests when trying to find #Omicron — Omicron is positive more on throat swabs than nasal recently according to many experts… see thread 🧵 below 👇
9) there is no universe where you can argue that a huge 50% SPIKE in #COVID19 hospitalization nationwide in just 5 days in a country of 330 million people (🇺🇸) can be ignored. And with holiday reporting delays, it will only get worse. Brace yourselves. Protect your families. 🙏

BREAKING—42%⬆️—Pandemic profiteering @Walmart just increased the price of 2 rapid #COVID test kits from $14 to $19.88… by 42%! Meanwhile rapid tests are either free or $1.20 each in Europe. Or if its @AbbottNews, can’t they lower damn price?! Asking for the 🌎 in pain. Image

UK hospitals 🏥 seeing critical staff shortages + caseload. 📌Maybe whoever arrogantly pushed the “#Omicron is mild” / “no need to worry” should be fired. 📌Maybe whoever naively believed the “it’s mild” propaganda should reconsider how they were so dangerously duped.
2) Same situation in US hospitals — both overloaded and critically short of staff due to both infections and burnout. 👇 this will be repeated worldwide if we don’t stop #Omicron and wake up!
3) I don’t know who can still call this “mild” with a straight face when staring at 2x record pediatric hospitalizations.

Why you should #SwabYourThroat…. Negative via nose… Positive via the throat. #Omicron is very different from all other variants. We need to adapt to changing testing strategies.

2) here was my tweet 🧵 yesterday morning that led @tweetmommybop to try out the throat swab rapid test after her husband has negative nasal results. RAT tests of Omicron are being compared using nasal tests vs Delta. I think they need to do throat swabs too with #Omicron
3) The throat swab positive while nasal swab negative testing story is becoming quite common. Here is another person with 3 negative nasal tests but got an immediate positive when she switched to a throat swab. 👇 #Omicron is different - we must adapt.
