#ExpressPremium story: At the recent e.Adda with The Indian Express, former Head Coach of Indian cricket team, @RaviShastriOfc spoke on the recent Virat Kohli-Sourav Ganguly controversy, similarities between himself & Kohli, and on the tough decisions he had to make as the coach.
When asked about #ViratKohli contradicting Ganguly, he said: It is not a question of who is lying, it is a question of what is the truth. We want to know the truth and that can only come with dialogue. You need dialogue from both sides.
"Virat was pretty aggressive the way he thought about the game. I was pretty similar from a very young age," Shastri said.
When asked about the decision to drop #AjinkyaRahane in South Africa, and a bit of unrest in 2018 during the England tour, he said, "One of the toughest jobs as a coach is probably selection. But in the seven years where I was involved, I had zero agenda." indianexpress.com/article/sports…
I am the kind of coach who will want a player to say, 'I am going to show this coach. I want to teach him a lesson and show him what I am all about.' So if it upset him (#RavichandranAshwin), I am very happy: #RaviShastri
There were talks with him to get fitter. I had a chat with him (@ashwinravi99 ) even after 2019, that he is bowling only 60-70 per cent of his capacity and still taken 375-400 wickets. If he gets that fitness right, that strike-rate will go through the roof: #RaviShastri
How did you make the team come back against Australia and fight so well?

Shastri: It wasn’t easy after 36 all-out in Adelaide but you knew you had to strike immediately in the next Test. @ajinkyarahane88 hit that century and led very well. The bowlers stuck to their task.
Ravi Shastri delivered a stirring dressing room speech commending the "courage, resolve and spirit" of his wounded warriors after an injury-ravaged Indian side beat Australia at the Gabba. Watch: indianexpress.com/article/sports…
"We need our cricketers to get the exposure and come back into the system. How are you going to get the Sachin Tendulkars or the Dravids to come back and contribute to the game if you put a conflict of interest clause?" asks #RaviShastri indianexpress.com/article/sports…
#RaviShastri was asked what his favourite cricket film is. Guess his answer.

This past December gave us a self-aware and fleet-footed film #MinnalMurali, as well as a superficial and unoriginal new series #Decoupled. Here is @RajaSen's verdict about the month gone by.

🧵 THREAD
It is hard not to be taken in by #MinnalMurali, set in a tiny village with immense character, featuring a roguish and gullible hero, played by the preposterously charming Tovino Thomas, who said it fulfilled his one childhood wish – to become a superhero. indianexpress.com/article/entert…
#MinnalMurali is a joyous, self-aware and fleet-footed entertainer, which also questions the absolute nature of good vs evil the genre is founded on. Even Mahatma Gandhi would cheer for that. The actor behind the supervillain can attest to that. indianexpress.com/article/entert…

Even as the #Omicron variant of the coronavirus continues to infect people in large numbers across the world, news about the emergence of another highly-mutated variant spread rapidly, raising fears of yet another wave of infections. #IHU
This variant, B.1.640, has been found mostly in France so far, although it has also been detected in several other countries. The variant was reported to have 46 mutations, including some in the spike protein.
#IHUvariant
The sudden discussion around it was triggered by the circulation of a week-old study by researchers from Méditerranée Infection in Marseille, part of France’s Instituts hospitalo-universitaires (#IHU, or University Hospital Institutes).

#GitHub has found itself at the centre of another online sexual harassment probe after it was used to create and share an offensively named app that sexually harassed Muslim women in India. But what is this developer community platform and what is not allowed on it?

🧵 THREAD
As the world’s largest open-source developer community platform, #GitHub allows any user to upload their projects and code to have others collaborate and view, edit, and tweak the code to help improve it, find errors, and fix problems.

More than 40 lakh teenagers in the 15-18 age group received their first dose of #Covid19 vaccines on Monday. Some concerns were raised about ‘expired’ #Covaxin being administered to this younger group, leading to the Health Ministry issuing a clarification.
The Ministry described these claims as “false and misleading” and said these were based on “incomplete information”. It pointed out that the shelf life of #Covaxin, the only vaccine being given to the people below 18 years of age, had been extended: indianexpress.com/article/india/…
The Health Ministry said the shelf life of #vaccines is extended by the national regulator, Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation, or CDSCO, based on a comprehensive analysis and examination of stability study data furnished by the vaccine manufacturers.
