"On Thursday, William Wragg, the chair of the public administration committee, claimed there had been attempted blackmail involving threats to funding in the constituencies of his fellow Conservative MPs who backed a confidence vote on Boris Johnson’s leadership."
"No 10 dismissed the allegations and said they would only be investigated if any evidence was presented."

This raises the questions: "Who would investigate the 'concerns raised'" and "Does No 10 not consider it relevant to question alleged actions of Whips?"
"He added: “I think the claims have been unsubstantiated, as the prime minister said, he hadn’t seen any evidence. I haven’t seen any evidence of this. Any allegation of that seriousness should be looked into and would have consequences if it is found to be true.”"
"Christian Wakeford, the former Tory MP who defected to Labour on Wednesday, said the whips had threatened to withhold money for a school in his Bury South constituency when he was considering rebelling against the government."
"Kwarteng told Sky: “He’s a Labour MP now, and of course, part of his job is to try and discredit the government.”"

'Discredit the government' - I think not!
A rudimentary lesson on the role of the "Official Opposition" 👇

"Historically and constitutionally, the opposition is understood to have three main roles: ‘to oppose the government, to criticize it and to seek to replace it’".

"Downing Street is refusing to conduct an inquiry into allegations of intimidation and blackmail by government whips, despite a cabinet minister’s call for an investigation."

We witness evidence from #LiarJohnson who chooses to be BLIND & DEAF to the issues of lack of credibility, integrity and probity at the centre of UK Government!

"Energy Minister Greg Hands, who used to work as a government whip, said Mr Wakeford was not a "credible source" because his defection meant his job was now to "do down the Conservative Party"."

An illuminating insight into Tory thoughts!

Deny event then, discredit individual!
"He added that Mr Wragg's claims had "not been borne out by anybody else", adding: "This is not something that happens.""

Is that right?!?

How can UK Government make this assertion when they refuse to investigate and consider availability of evidence?
Jus' wait a cotton pickin' minute! Image
It's said that no news is good news BUT this news of 'blackmailing' #Tory MPs to back #LiarJohnson is NOT NEWS but Déjà Vu!

6 November 2021:

"Boris Johnson is facing the prospect of a “cash for votes” inquiry into whether his party used public money to “blackmail” its own MPs."
"During last week’s row over the Commons sleaze watchdog, the Conservative Party whips office was reported to have warned backbenchers their constituency areas would lose funding if they failed to vote with the government."
"Now the cabinet secretary Simon Case is being urged to investigate the allegations – which opposition parties say would amount to a MISUSE of PUBLIC FUNDS."

"The prime minister’s spokesperson did not deny the reports when questioned about them on Friday."
"Sir Ed said an official inquiry was “urgently needed into whether this government has misused public funds to try and get their own MP off the hook”."
"He added: “It is unthinkable that local communities would be punished by having vital funding taken away, just because their MPs refused to defend the indefensible."
“This would be a new ‘cash for votes’ scandal, using families and businesses as political bargaining chips to save the prime minister’s blushes.

“Boris Johnson keeps promising to level up, but instead he is dragging our politics to new lows.”

How low must UK sink!?!
On a related matter...

"Boris Johnson has been accused of treating the public "like an ATM machine" amid widespread criticism of his government's handling of COVID testing during the pandemic."
"Dame Meg Hillier, the chair of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), criticised the government's management of the NHSTT, saying part of the issue was due to overconfidence."
"She also said the government had played fast and loose with taxpayer money."

“But in the end it massively over-promised for what it delivered and it was eye-watering sums of money."
“That is one of the biggest concerns – it is almost as if the taxpayer was an ATM machine. That lack of regard for taxpayer funding is a real concern for us as a committee."

Might be prudent to hold the horses on those New Year honours until AFTER the public inquiry into UK Government handling of COVID-19 pandemic, an ongoing public health threat contrary to all unfounded boosterism from #LiarJohnson. Image

"There is no obvious way out for the prime minister. It was not a one-off, it was not an ambiguous situation, it definitely happened. That hasn’t stopped him trying all of those excuses, it has just meant each time one fell down marked another full news cycle of the scandal."
"Johnson’s personal ratings are in the toilet, his party now lags hugely behind in the polls, and just like phone hacking the scandal stretches beyond just government. The Sun faces questions having had its deputy editor, James Slack, as the central figure of one of the parties."
"The Met Police are comprehensively failing to look anything other than incompetent in their response: they have, somehow, prioritised a civil servants’ investigation over their own, handily ignored the presence of police in Number 10,"

"The longer this corrupt and hypocritical government limps on, the greater the risk it does long-term damage to public trust in the institutions of democracy."
"How can citizens trust a government to act in their interest while it wheels out ludicrous announcements that serve no purpose other than attempting to bolster a prime minister mired in crisis after crisis?"
"Nowhere is this true more than with Covid. During an ongoing national emergency, it is critical the public trusts the government to take decisions for the right reasons, based on evidence rather than its desire to capture the news cycle."

"A LEADING economist has called on the Scottish Government to stop publishing the Government Expenditure and Revenue Scotland (GERS) figures, insisting they do not reflect the country’s financial position."
