Today is the 5th anniversary of the passing of the #MuslimBan. The hateful act has left families separated and thousands of people still unable to enter our nation. It's not enough to end the ban. @POTUS must address its ongoing harmful effects. 
Last Friday, we joined @NoMuslimBanEver, @NIACouncil and over 100 other organizations in a letter urging @POTUS to provide relief to those still impacted by Trump’s Muslim and African Bans.
Over 41,000 visa applicants from the banned countries were denied as a result of Trump's travel bans. People who won their diversity visas were denied this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for themselves & their families. They need a new chance to claim their lost diversity visas.
The @StateDept must issue clear guidance regarding next steps for applicants denied under the Muslim and African Bans, including publicly releasing the report to the White House that was ordered in President Biden’s proclamation overturning these bans.
.@StateDept must also immediately and automatically reconsider, reopen, and expedite all immigrant and non-immigrant visa applications subject to the Muslim and African Bans that have not yet been granted, including those denied during FY 17 - FY 20.
These impacted visa applicants should also be provided a new opportunity to supplement their previous applications, if necessary, for a complete review, and be granted a final outcome of the review.
.@StateDept should also waive all new application fees for non-immigrant visas impacted by the Muslim and African Bans, treating these applications as not constituting final denials as of January 20, 2020, and reimburse travel expenses for those rejected under PP 9645.
The U.S. Congress should also work with the #WhiteHouse to grant humanitarian parole to those who won the diversity visa lottery from FY 17 through FY 22, but whose visas were not issued as a result of these bans.
.@StateDept consular services should also be restored for visa applicants from banned countries and the U.S. should be a nation that is welcoming to all people, regardless of their nationality.
.@StateDept should work with Congress to waive discriminatory Visa Waiver Program restrictions (H.R. 158) on dual nationals. #HR158 paved the way for the Muslim ban and was disingenuously used by the last administration to deflect criticism.
Finally, the U.S. must end its discriminatory “Extreme Vetting” policies and ensure that such subjective screening policies cannot be made mandatory for specific nationals.
