If you or anyone you know plan on countering the convoy protest, I urge you not to. I can't see this not resulting in violence. It is only the nature of the violence that is in question at this point. 1/14
While I pray that I'm wrong, we've seen too much already which suggests this isn't going to go well.
First there is the boorish behaviour of some participants and their supporters that I first heard about in Winnipeg and which continues into Ontario. 2/14
But this is all minor in the who scheme of things. 3/14
I won't post it, but one person who suggests he is in the convoy claimed that he saw a friend of mine in the convoy as an infiltrator. That is a lie because that individual is at home no and never posts identifying pictures of themselves. 12/14
And I could go on.
If I have ever been influential in this sphere, please take my warning to heart. 13/14
If you plan on counter-protesting, please don't.
If you are a journalist, please take extra precautions.
If you own a business, protect your employees especially if we are dealing with the service industry. 14/14
It doesn't show everything and what I can see is a large crowd, but it certainly doesn't look like the 500,000 to 1.4 million the participants claimed would be there (one random person believed there would be 3.5 million, or close to 10% of Canada). 2/
So far people on the ground have noted Diagalon and Canada First flags and at least one person in a Soldiers of Odin vest.
We also see a Canada First supporter dressed for a "peaceful" demonstration. 3/
Today the organizers and the administrators of the Go Fund Me issued a press release in which they claim their protest is peaceful and that extremist elements are not a part of it. 2/
Yesterday, they also posted a now apparently deleted update to the Go Fund Me stating that Pat King was not a part of the convoy effort. 3/
