Damn. So did Will Smith just punch Chris Rock for real? Here is a Japanese network’s uncensored exchange between Will Smith and Chris Rock. #Oscars #WillSmith
2) Yeah it was real. Australia’s @SevenNetwork also carried it uncensored.
3) Apparently, Will Smith’s wife Jada is suffering from alopecia. And Chris Rock’s hair joke was hurtful. But this kinda violence on stage isn’t cool. Kids are watching for Pete sake.
4) I know many friends with alopecia. And it’s not funny to joke about. I think Chris Rock’s joke was poor taste. But Will Smith’s violent response on stage in front of millions was poor too. We need better role models for our kids.
nbcnews.com/news/nbcblk/ja…
5) I’m seeing responses that goes—“Will Smith shouldn’t have done that”, to “he shouldn’t it on stage”, to “Chris Rock deserved it / Will smith was right to do that”. I get the natural impulse to want to punch… but this is more than street alley name calling—this is the Oscars.
6) Oscars is one of the most watched global televised events. It teaches kid watching that violence is okay immediate solution. Your ego pride hurt? Then punch or bomb your neighbor. Then what your ego still hurt? More punches? More bombs. An eye for an eye makes us all blind.
7) Disagree. If you’re a person who suffers an illness that significantly affects your looks, you might be much more hurt than outsider observers realize. Losing your hair, whether to alopecia or cancer chemotherapy, is a major traumatizing thing for many who suffer it. Empathy🙏
8) Ummm we aren’t living under medieval Shogun era anymore. I can list 100+ different things from the medieval era that are not okay today.

📍SWITCH UP BOOSTER—New study shows the Moderna vaccine (aka mRNA-1273) elicits very different antibody-response & different natural killer T cell response than Pfizer #COVID19 vaccine. Hence, perhaps best to switch & cross-boost with other than original. science.org/doi/10.1126/sc… Image
2) Is there more data on switching boosters? Yes. Previously we saw higher antibody response if you switched from Moderna to Pfizer, or from Pfizer to Moderna— and definitely from J&J to any of the mRNA vaccines. See thread 🧵 below 👇
3) Older study, but we have seen Moderna’s 100 mcg dose yields more antibody response than Pfizer’s 30 mcg. That said, Moderna’s official booster is only 50 mcg. My approach would be to get the opposite mRNA vaccine as booster. But for 4th shot—def switch if you haven’t already.

⚠️BA2 DOMINANT—Welp—CDC reports the #BA2 subvariant is now 54.9% of all cases as of March 26th. ➡️This matches our forecast of March 26th BA2 dominance **right on the nose**—for equilibrium plateau point. Wastewater plateaued too. Surge coming in April.

Forecast HT to @JPWeiland ImageImage
2) Wastewater signals also show sewage #SARSCoV2 levels also has plateaued from its steep drop. The plateau coincides with the “criss crossing” of old BA1 drop and new #BA2 rise.

3) To be honest, it didn’t take being a rocket scientist or epidemiologist to figure out where #BA2 is taking us when you see this exponential graph on a log scale. BA2 was headed for dominance for weeks.

Umm—scientists have long known that there is NO SUCH THING as a “smoke-free section” of an ✈️—epidemiologists & aerosol scientists had studied cigarette smoke on airplanes for years! Secondhand smoke kills—so does secondhand virus. #COVIDisAirborne #MaskUp tobaccocontrol.bmj.com/content/13/sup… ImageImage
2) Many aerosol scientists like @jljcolorado compare #SARSCoV2 aerosols to cigarette smoke. The aircraft cabin provided the least volume and lowest ventilation rate per smoker of any social venue, including stand up bars and smoking lounges, tobaccocontrol.bmj.com/content/13/sup…
3) Personal monitors showed little difference in SHS exposures between flight attendants assigned to smoking sections and those assigned to non-smoking sections of aircraft cabins.

📍We have now hit 20 MILLION EXCESS DEATHS during the pandemic—quite chilling. It’s ~4x the confirmed #COVID19 deaths alone. ➡️EXCESS is far more reliable because it’s TOTAL minus EXPECTED based on pre-pandemic rate. Not testing dependent! #CovidIsNotOver ourworldindata.org/excess-mortali… Image
2) How is the US excess death doing by month and year? Still not great. Excess deaths in 2022 (teal color below) is still running near 2021 excess deaths (purple)! Why? It just looks lower on official COVID stats because of less #COVID19 testing. Image
3) Russian 🇷🇺 excess mortality was quite high a few months ago, but they suddenly stopped reporting in February— hmmmm, coincidence??? Their recent “drop” in early February is likely incomplete data too since death reporting often delayed. But there is no more data released. Image

NEW—Another monoclonal antibody drug partly suspended due to #BA2—FDA announces sotrovimab is no longer authorized for #COVID19 use in areas where BA2 is dominant based on new data that sotrovimab is unlikely to be effective against Omicron BA.2 subvariant fda.gov/drugs/drug-saf…
2) FDA is announcing that sotrovimab is no longer authorized for use at this time in the following states & territories:
•Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont (HHS Region 1)
•New Jersey, New York, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands (HHS Region 2)
3) New data included in the health care provider fact sheet shows that the authorized dose of sotrovimab is unlikely to be effective against the BA.2 sub-variant. Based on CDC data, BA.2 accounts for more than 50% of cases in the states and territories in Regions 1 and 2 above.

⚠️Holy moly—Gosh, 6-9% of all people across England Scotland Wales N Ireland tested newly positive for #COVID19 in just 1 week!!! Wowzers. 97-99% of people in 🇬🇧 already had antibodies. #BA2 reinfection is real. Hospitalizations surging. Don’t play games.
ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulati…
2) so is this reinfection wave driven by #Ba2 subvariant? Hell yes the increase is driven by almost all BA2 in England Wales Scotland. #CovidIsNotOver
3) Show me hospitalizations surging in England under the #BA2 wave… here it is—it’s about to surpass the old Omicron wave already! And hospitalizations are surging across all major groups.
