The situation in the #NHS is as bad as I’ve ever known it.

Multiple HCWs in our area are off sick with #COVID - nurses, consultants, GPs…all likely to be triple vaxed so they should avoid serious illness but still a risk of #LongCovid.

The impact on ALL HEALTHCARE is HUGE!

Operations, procedures, investigations, treatments, therapies….are delayed & cancelled every single day.

Waits for urgent care in A+E/UTCs is ⬆️, pressure on the ambulance service⬆️.

Care ACROSS the #NHS is being negatively affected by staff absences & a lack of beds.

Care in some areas is no longer safe, in many it can only be described as ‘adequate’.

As @RachaelMaskell points out, hospitalisations are ⬆️….A LOT! Even admissions for other problems will be made more challenging if the patient has #COVID19.

Yet @sajidjavid does nothing?!

We have quite clearly NOT broken the chain of transmission…the link between infection & serious illness/death is weaker but transmission is at extremely high levels, #COVID is currently everywhere.

➡️No way for people to protect loved ones/work colleagues

⬇️chance of spotting outbreaks/variants & getting anti-virals

➡️Vulnerable ppl left in limbo, treated as of they don’t matter

Schools are in chaos, 1000s of children/staff off w/ #COVID, many 1000s w/ #LongCovid. Widespread, damaging educational disruption! As we’ve seen throughout, those in greatest need suffering the most.

#LivingWithCovid the #Tory way is the antithesis of PUBLIC HEALTH, is totally insane!

AVOIDABLE deaths/long term illness/bereavement/educational disruption/pressure on an already desperate #NHS…

FREEDOM for a few will be the exact opposite for many others & DEADLY for some.

As frontline HCPs at risk every day, we deserve to know if @CMO_England & @uksciencechief have approved this reckless, irresponsible strategy?

Do they feel comfortable knowing that 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿will be ‘flying blind’ as the pandemic continues, that so much preventable harm will result?

DEMAND continued access to FREE #lateralflowtests - at the v least while prevalence is so high.

We can wish all we like, but #coronavirus isn’t listening & is definitely not done with us yet!
