🔴 LIVE: Shaping A Just #DigitalTransformation, an @OECD high-level event where @DIAL_Kate will not only share her thoughts on the 2021 Development Co-operation Report's findings, but also share details about an exciting new effort we're proud to be leading with @DPGAlliance!
The new @OECD report highlights how to best achieve digital transformation by being responsive to digital realities, managing universal risks, and supporting gender action frameworks.
.@OECD's offer:
✅Going digital initiative
✅New research to accelerate #digitaltransformation
✅Inclusive forum to shape a digital future
✅DAC support participation of developing countries
3 🔑 areas for action to achieve a just digital transformation for all:
🤝Ensure policies and partnership power an inclusive digital future
🏗️Support national and regional building blocks for sustainable digital ecosystems
💱 Making digital financing fit for purpose
According to Minister Diattara of Senegal, one of the greatest challenges facing the country is conforming to international #norms and #standards, which are requisite for building a #DigitalEconomy.
They've launched a new strategy: Digital Senegal 2025. The aim of strategy is to breathe new life into the sector by providing stakeholders with new growth drivers and sources, raising the GDP contribution of digital technologies by 10%, and by creating 35,000 direct jobs by 2025
The cost of the 28 reforms and 69 projects included in the Digital Senegal 2025 strategy is about 2.5 billion Euros, demonstrating the government's strong ambition to make #digital available "for all and for use in everything"
@noradno has been supporting DPGs for some time, and has seen several compelling use cases:
☑️ Health (DHIS2)
☑️ Climate (🇳🇴 Meteorological Institute)
☑️ Education (Global Digital Library)
@noradno takes particular interest in #DPGs due to their potential for #scale and their local relevance. #OpenSource tech can be adapted to most contexts, as evidenced by the adoption and use of DHIS2 in more than 70 countries! 👀
In fact, @noradno is so interested in #DPGs, it's a co-funder of @DPGAlliance! Moving forward, their priorities include:
@CarmenLigiaV : Colombia ranks third in the @OECD Digital Government. Index, was joint first among OECD members in giving a central role to citizens' needs: the country is following the path to reinforce interconnectivity and digital transformation 🇨🇴

Well, they all agree that #DigitalTransformation is at a tipping point globally, with the divisions between wealthy and developing nations especially stark: 96% of the world's unconnected people live in developing countries.
To make technology promises into reality, we must recognize Africa as a continent with 55 countries that are all different. Let's work with them to build what is required rather than serving them with one solution.

.@DIAL_Kate : "We often talk about the technology, but we sometimes forget to talk about the purpose. The purpose is to make people's lives easier and give them access to education, healthcare, agricultural services, and more."

Teki Akuetteh: "Africa is not behind in its use of modern tech. We are faced with the same challenges as the 'developed world', but when you look at our policy and legal frameworks, you see a gap. It calls for collaboration so we can address it.
Mark Irura notes the importance of using #data to improve governance but he emphasizes that communities need to know how their data is being used so they can protect their #privacy.
However, choosing not to share your data should NOT prevent you from participating in government!
DIAL thinks about #partnerships in everything it does—in fact, were founded in 2015 by a partnership of #global#donors seeking to connect incredibly promising #DigitalDevelopment efforts that had failed to achieve #scale.
