No masking in Ontario makes complete sense…from a strategic #onpoli perspective…A 🧵
Ford govt strategists learned a lot from the #OttawaOccupation . There is small, but extremely vocal contingent of our population that is living in complete denial…
…of the pandemic. It’s far easier to ignore the pandemic, then it is to exercise the necessary precautions to end it.
In other words, personal sacrifice for community gain is no longer achievable.
“Politicians” around the country are looking to exploit this sentiment…
…and Doug Ford’s handlers are no different. The immediate discussion and subsequent lifting of protocols including masking shortly after the #OttawaOccupation ,sent the message that the Ford govt was listening to the plight…
…of these so called “freedom” fighters. More importantly the Ont PC Party wanted to prevent these people from aligning themselves with the far right New Blue Party after witnessing the impact The PPC had on the Federal Conservatives.
The lifting of…
…all pandemic restrictions was necessary and time sensitive in order to placate a group that could be the difference b/w a Ford majority, minority, or even a defeat in the election.
In essence, it didn’t matter what #Covid19 was doing to Ontario at the conclusion…
…of the #OttawaOccupation .The Ford govt simply could not risk a similar event at Queens Park, nor could they risk the New Blue Party acquiring the vote of this vocal bunch. Further, a return to any sort of restriction, including masking, no matter…
…how much it will help blunt cases in our schools, communities and hospitals, WILL NOT happen prior to the election for fear of sending voters to the New Blue Party.
What’s at stake?
Developers, private health & education entities, construction contracts…
…for the proposed #Highway413 & #BradfordBypass , all hang in the balance awaiting Doug Ford’s re-election.
Every funding announcement, every piece of data that is restricted, every question that goes unanswered, every mandate letter withheld, every…
…vacation to the DR to avoid public scrutiny has systematically been mapped out to avoid any kink in the armour of the PC govt b/c there are BILLIONS of dollars at stake for some very wealthy individuals.
Once re-elected the Ford govt will push ahead with the monetization…
…of health care & education. But first he will go after a group the public loves to hate, even though they have acted as the defenders of access to quality health care + education - The Unions. This will probably led to the most hateful comments if anyone…
…reads/replies to this 🧵.
The Ford govt once again attempts to take advantage of this misplaced anger in an attempt to break a group focussed on worker rights, fair compensation, equity/access in education + health care. Why? Because they stand in the way…
…of privatization. Because they are the voice of what goes on in our hospitals and schools, and because it was this group that thwarted the attempt at privatization by Mike Harris decades prior. Cue the rhetoric about summers off & vacations, or doctors/nurses on Twitter…
…screaming the sky is falling, w/out these people the pandemic would have been FAR worse on our most vulnerable.
In the end we all want the pandemic to end, and it will. Just be aware that the consequences of 4 more years of Doug Ford will impact lives more than masking
If “absenteeism” is to be used as a possible barometer to implement further protocols at schools (ie 30% rule), then current attendance procedures will cover up absences & render the 30% rule unattainable…
1/15 #onted
…and therefore should not be used as a viable public health pandemic safety measure.
Here’s why👇
Prior to the break attendance would be taken based on students in chairs + students REGISTERED in hybrid learning.
An absent student would be defined…
2/15
…as follows:
👉not sitting in a🪑
👉not in virtual meeting
Parents also had the ability to enter the reason by code for the absence…ie ill, appointment, other etc. Staff also have codes.
In other words, under normal circumstances away due to illness is simple…

Before the break public health was over whelmed and in many health units, schools were given a form letter from public health which principals of the school used to cut & paste as PCR testing couldn’t happen fast enough to confirm. Therefore… #onted
…rapid tests were used to assume +ive case from parent input which = the closure of entire class. Nothing confirmed through PH, no case number on form letters. So there is precedent to proceed w/out official testing & confirmation.
In other words principals can communicate…
…to parents with PH direction but that does not need testing confirmation.
The next issue is we have principals (I assume through board directive) telling parents to NOT report cases to them as they no longer have a responsibility to report that info to the PH. So like…
Should Parents Be 😆Schools Are Back In-Person?🧵#onted
That’s a very personal question, but what parents do deserve is clear information to assist them in making an informed decision that is not only best for their children, but for their families.
If you listen closely…
1/10
…to the press conference today, they are sending students back because they believe students need to be in school for their mental health, and they believe their “protocols to be safe.”
Whether students should return to in-person learning or not is pointless now…
2/10
…cause it IS happening on Monday. Of greater concern is the amount of disinformation and double speak that continues to come from the CMOH & the MOE.
As a parent, clear information is needed on how safe schools are. Not b/c they want to argue to shut them down, but b/c…

We are on the highway towards the privatization of our health care & #onted system. Well respected doctors, nurses, scientists, educators have tried to warn you. Instead Ontario has chosen to put their faith in the Ford govt.
This govt has…
1/11
…wasted billions of dollars, suppressed the wages of critical heroes in this pandemic who are mostly women, while at the same time giving raises to male dominated professions - including their own MPPs. They needed the military to be called due to the deplorable…
2/11
…conditions in long term care, where more than 10,000 of our most vulnerable were left to wither away from the lack of care and dehydration during #COVID19 outbreaks. Their inaction caused our children to experience the largest number of in person school days lost…

Almost 9 months into this pandemic, Doug Ford continues to receive not only a pass from mainstream media, but a pat on the back. They willingly participate in his Doug and pony shows, following him around…

…the province in what seems like a never ending campaign for re-election. Yesterday the Toronto Star claimed he has “brought professionalism to the Premier’s Office,” and that he was “poised for re-election.” Strong timely words for a govt that seems a lot closer to crisis…

…then the media will have you believe. If you cut through the facade concocted by govt media relations, their social media team, their polling strategists, you’ll find a simple tale of governing a province through deflection, deceit, & gaslighting, while very few…
What if everyone followed Doug Ford on how to lead? A 🧵
1. Firefighters would show up to a call, take a selfie with the fire, & then simply hand over the firehose to the homeowner so they don’t get wet #onpoli
2. Electric vehicle manufacturers can no longer market their vehicles as being green since Ford has discovered it is the HWY itself that is better for greenhouse gases & not the vehicle. #onpoli#BradfordBypass
3. All food delivery services that contain meat products will now be dropped off at the nearest intersection to avoid offending your neighbour who may be anti-meat #onpoli #antivaxxers
