This is a Conservatism fundraiser.

Proceeds will be collected by Oilers franchise owner, Daryl Katz, who will then distribute funds to “think tanks” that aim to elect politicians who will rob these very fans of social services, like transit, education, and access to abortions…
With their membership in groups like Alberta Enterprise, the Oilers Entertainment Group is fighting to delay action on mitigating the catastrophic effects climate change, and gain tax advantages for the ultra-rich.

I know people who live in Edmonton who want things like expanded transit networks, reliable healthcare, and climate action. They vote progressively. They are confused how Conservatives always seem to win elections. They are huge Oilers fans…
A progressive voter in an Oilers jersey would be like a labour rights activist in line for a double-double. Both are using their wallets against their own cause.

Many powerful corporate brands of capitalism have long-since been co-opted by Conservatives.

Conservatives love to cosplay as brands that the public perceives as trustworthy.

They must do this because their ultimate goal is to rob the public of their tax money and defund social services.

They cannot be honest about those goals. 🧵👇
We see examples of this over and over. Conservatives are very particular about dressing up in conservative-friendly brands. But they especially love sports.

Remember when I mentioned abortions at the top of this thread?

The hockey franchise owners may not be anti-choice, but they are happy to support politicians that are, as long as they get their tax breaks and corporate welfare they want.

They know what Kenney stands for.

The corporate elite gets what they want too.
And let’s not let the Flames off the hook either.

Their owner, oligarch N. Murray Edwards, is one of the most villainous Canadians alive today.

As @overtross puts it: “hockey tickets are conservative fundraising tokens.”
To be clear, Murray Edwards is such a villain that he uses government money to fund the destruction of the environment, the acceleration of climate change, and the oppression of Indigenous peoples.

And the #Calgary #Flames are a huge source of revenue for him.

I found some stickers in Calgary that seemed suspicious. They claimed that lies are mutating, and that there are tyrants…

I removed the names and .urls, but i wasn’t able to fully remove the stickers.

In Canada, wealthy families can place their children in expensive elite segregated schools to prevent them from getting to know the poor, and to shield them from the knowledge that the rich aren’t actually better than the poor.

Will you demand an end to school segregation?
In Alberta, the government subsidizes these elite segregated schools to the tune of hundreds of millions every year.

This is the cancer that feeds generations of Conservative children that they are better than; and more deserving than the poor.
