THREAD: Watching today's @FERC monthly open meeting. Among the highlights: a potential final decision to pursue a $20M enforcement case against Energy Transfer over the Rover #pipeline, and action on #transmission line ratings.
And we're underway.
@RichGlickFERC said public will be able to attend next month's open meeting, provided COVID numbers are encouraging.
@RichGlickFERC notes @FERC approval of Kern River Gas #pipeline upgrade project will allow for conversion of #coal-fired power plant to a #gas-fired power plant, and says that proves that @FERC examination of #climatechange impacts doesn't mean de facto gas project rejections.
No action on Rover #pipeline enforcement case, it's been struck from the agenda.
@RichGlickFERC on @FERC/@NERC_Official summer market/reliability reports: "Weather poses an extreme threat here and we need to take that into account where we plan."
Answering question from @RichGlickFERC, Gilbert Gil of @FERC energy policy office says interregional transfer capacity can help preserve #grid reliability in summer, but notes that no such capacity has been added since last summer.
@RichGlickFERC notes that the lack of sufficient transfer capacity is an issue between the two sections of @MISO_energy.
FERC Commissioner James Danly: "Our markets are not doing a good job of ensuring resource adequacy." Blames @FERC for giving free rein to state #cleanenergy policies and current majority's position on #gas infrastructure.
@ChristieFERC on @NERC_Official reliability report: "We're heading for a reliability crisis."
@ChristieFERC on pushing pace of #renewables replacing #gas, #nuclear and other conventional/fossil fuels: "We have to deal with reality, not ideology. The #grid is just not ready to get rid of dispatchable resources and force them out."
@ChristieFERC also acknowledges that states have the last word on building/retiring #electric generation, says state policymakers should heed @NERC_Official reliability warnings.
@wlpFERC says summer reliability concerns underscore @FERC urgency to continue with #transmission policy overhaul, including interconnection reform and interregional planning. "We bring all our resources to bear, we can solve these problems."
And that's a wrap. @RichGlickFERC will speak with reporters at 2 p.m. ET.

THREAD: Watching @txrrc meeting today at 9:30 CT to discuss prorationing #oil production. Here's some background on the request, which the RRC hasn't granted since 1973: law360.com/articles/12597…
The meeting comes 2 days after OPEC+ announced historic production cuts, and it'll be interesting to see how that colors the RRC's discussion and potential actions: law360.com/articles/12631…
And @APIenergy just put out its statement opposing any production cuts. The group will be one of 55(!) scheduled speakers at today's meeting.
