In 2018 a workshop was held by @IUCN to develop a management plan for #Astola. Since then..ZILCH! It is 2022. Status in limbo. Is it to be 'low take' or 'no take'? If former, which level of 'take' or activity is permitted. If latter, what alternatives for beneficiaries @dpr_gob ?

The @ClimateChangePK #IUCNPakistan under the #NCB drew up a list of recom. sites that should be declared #MPAs by end 2020. We are 2 years off. Sitting atop the priority list are #Churna & #Damb in #Balochistan & the #IndusSwatch in #Sindh. Here is why: google.com/amp/s/www.then…

Delay in decisions has not only made #Pakistan getting the spotlight as country missing yet another international commitment but also in continuous harm to these fragile ecosystems. Wave erosion is eating away the coast, leading to infrastructure damage to assets in this town

Unless swift & firm decision is taken about #Churna island, this fragile & threatened island will not even be worth saving! Commercial & industrial activity is degrading it further as is rampant, unrestricted & damaging tourist activity is harming it.

#IndusSwatch is where the #RiverIndus falls in the #ArabianSea is a biodiversity hub. A notification was issued, but hangs in mid air.. neither implemented not denotified which I can share with you @sherryrehman. Earlier #kekra was given as a reason. That is done & dusted.

So my request after the end of #WorldOceansDay2022 to those who are in decision making positions..... Better late than never.. missing targets doesn't mean the threats & fragility will go away. On the contrary, they will exacerbate so... @sherryrehman #asifhydershah
