Frankly, if ppl aren’t scared abt #Longcovid#LongCovidKids, it’s out of ignorance or the regrettable belief that a “healthy” person who takes vitamins & runs marathons is exempt.
This virus is COMMONLY destroying organs, vasculature, causing strokes, diabetes, brain damage, fertility problems, early death etc & most seem blind to these facts. If ppl understood, they would stop saying “it’s just a cold.“ That is wrong. The acute infection isn’t the prob!
The problem is latency! The virus has evolved to become less acutely deadly but just as bad longterm, from what we know.
Latency is the reason you should avoid this virus & repeated infections when possible. It persists in organs, quietly..til it’s not quiet anymore.
Until there is an effective prophylaxis/ therapy or sterilizing vaccine to prevent #LongCovid, I will be wearing an N95 or better indoors in public spaces 💯 of the time (& still avoid when poss).
Testing, current vaccines, being “healthy” isn’t working (nearly well enough).
I encourage you to hold out for better options. They will come.
If you’ve already been infected, you don’t have to resign yourself to getting it again and again.
Compounded infections can lead to worse outcomes.
Short-term annoyance = longterm benefit.
I have recovered from a near-fatal case of Lyme/ Bartonella —both common vector-borne diseases w lots or overlap to Covid which are poorly understood/ recognized by MDs.
We waited over two years for a moderately OK antiviral. It’s pathetic, really. And then it’s being withheld from the exact kind of young, healthy people that so frequently get destroyed by #LongCovid.
I don’t get it. Do better. Treat patients early. Give them a fucking chance.
It’s medicine 101.
Treat patients early, get a better outcome.
What is the problem?
The worst, deadliest pathogen you have ever seen and you’re withholding treatment?
China knows Covid can disseminate through the body, causing multiple organ/ vascular damage, & debilitate huge % of population if they don’t mitigate it.
We are playing with 🔥 here in the US, criticizing them Bc we don’t have the will to save ourselves.
I’m noticing many friends, colleagues, acquaintances developing strange, new symptoms yet not attributing them to Covid.
This is eerily reminiscent of my experience w #Lyme; migrating, hard-to-describe, bizarre symptoms that no one has answers for that you just pray will stop.
I feel strongly this needs to be addressed and that the medical world needs to consider not only persistent Covid, but other common reactivated infections other than EBV. The # of tick-borne disease pts who crashed after Covid but got better w retreated shld not be discounted.
I would have my docs look for common persistent pathogens like #Lyme, #bartonella, #EBV, #babesia, etc and treat empirically if symptoms are suggestive w/o + tests, since testing for most of these (not EBV) is terrible.
