@zackfreedman I personally want to take a look at making my own keyboard, but that would require at least to have 122 buttons if not more and instead of #RGB just have some dimmable monotone LEDs if not EL wire instead.

Ideally with transparent keycaps!

Or #HDMI cable??
You might even be able to use a regular 4p4c #RJ10 cable if your two halves are independent from each other and the primary one just has a #USB-Hub onboard...

@zackfreedman Which brings me to another idea: What if instead of I²C it used #RS485 as a bus?

This way, up to 255 modules could be linked together and it would only require a RS-485 - to - USB converter and a microcontroller on every single unit to store configuration and shit.

@zackfreedman In return, a TRRS headphone cable would be sufficient providing 5VDC, GND, DATA_POS & DATA_NEG...

@zackfreedman And the entire installation could be absurdly spread out so even @TaranVH would be able to connect all macro keys with a single USB port...

@zackfreedman Anyway, that's not not a 100% Keyboard, but a 90% Keyboard, since it doesn't have 122 Keys, but just 105!

@zackfreedman It misses several #Terminal keys, like F13-F24 & Print, Record, Play, Pause, Lock etc.
