100% growth in organic traffic each year since 2019 with the help of ONLY content - just one of the things the @socialpilot_co can be proud of.

How did we do it? 🤔

We follow a checklist ✅of 27 items before publishing any content on our blog.

Here's a #thread🧵👇

#marketing
#1 Blog title must be under 60 characters.

Going for crisp, to-the-point titles is key here! Enough to make a point but not so long that gives too much away.

#blogging #content #Tips
#2 Blog titles must cover the primary keywords.

Goes without saying this is one of the most important parts of coming up with a creative title. There’s a reason they call it a ‘Key’word.

#seotips
#3 Blog's URL must be short.

Be it people or Google - no one likes super lengthy URLs. Less is more here

#seotips
#4 Blog's URL must cover keywords.

Just another ‘Hygiene’ practice!

#seotips
#5 Blog pieces must have 1500+ words.

Long story short - More the words, better the storytelling, more the time spent on your page,
better the ranking!

#6 The opening paragraph should be SEO Keyword rich and written to create intrigue.

They say first impressions matter the most. It’s the same for a blog post. Start well, start strong and make sure you put those keywords to good use.

#contentwriting #seotips
#7 Blog's headlines must follow hierarchy: H1 ~ H2 ~ H3 ~ H4 ~ H5 ~ H6

Properly structured blogs with proper Headline tags are massively underrated. Sometimes the smallest of details account for the biggest of results.

#webmaster #bloggingguide
#8 Use native HTML tags for numbering (<ol>) and bullet points (<ul>)

Avoid using images for bullets or numbering. There’s a reason for those separate HTML tags for these lists.

#seotips
#9 Blog must have at least 2 "Interesting Reads" blocks.

What’s the best way to keep users on your website? Offering them something else they might be interested in. It’s also a great way to link some of your best work.

#contentstrategy #MarketingStrategy
#10 Blog has to be properly formatted in terms of styling.

Check, check and double check. Spacing, readability and formatting issues are a big no-no.

#uiux #blogtips
#11 Blog should have a proper FAQ section with snippets

Adding FAQs with proper rich snippets goes a long way in the success of the blog. It helps acquire more space in google listings with high chances of inclusion in google FAQs.

#richsnippet #searchengineoptimization
#12 "How-to" Blogs must be written in a stepwise format - Step 1, Step 2 and so on…

When writing procedural or informational blogs make sure to add Step 1, Step 2 etc for each heading. Helps get zero ranking on Google.

#zeroranking #richsnippet #seotips
#13 Blog must be scannable with bold/italic highlights.

Making sure the key pieces of information are properly highlighted and formatted wherever required goes a long way in creating a lasting first impression when a user is scrolling through a blog

#uiux #blogging
#14 Make sure that blog shared on social media looks good

You’ve written a great blog. Now making sure your social media shares are done right is crucial. Is the link proper? Is the preview image the perfect size and resolution? All of these are very important

#socialmediatips
#15 Author Bio should not be more than 200 characters

Short and crisp author notes are very important. The reader is already coming off a moderately big read if you’ve followed #5. Keep it simple.

#writingtips #contentmarketing
#16 All external links must have target="_blank". (no internal links should have it)

For better user experience, make sure to open any external links in the new browser window. It’s a game of bounce rates and user retention. No one wants to lose out.

#seotips
#17 All external links (article body) must have rel="nofollow noopener".

Keeping all external links as nofollow is a good practice.

#seotips
#18 All internal links must have rel="dofollow".

Or in other words, make sure internal links should not have rel=”nofollow”.

#seotips
#19 Author Bio link must be dofollow and must open in a new window (one link only).

Author Bio is the area where dofollow links are given from the whole page.

#seotips
#20 All links must have 200 responses (no 301 redirection).

Make sure that there is no redirection for any of the internal and external links.

#seotips
#21 Blogs must have 2 internal links to site pages (homepage, feature pages etc).

Wherever logically possible, include your feature’s use case and drive user to product (inner) pages

#seotips #contenttips
#22 All links must have a title (A meaningful one at that).

Make sure to add the meaning tooltip to each link by adding the title attribute of the anchor tag.

#seotips
#23 Blogs must not have more than 7 links (including Internal links).

Not a hard and fast rule for every blog but try and keep the sum total of internal and external links to a maximum of 7 in order to avoid distractions.

#uiux #userexperience
#24 All images included in the blog must be <100KB.

Make sure all your images are size checked within the 100KB size.

#seo
#25 Blog images should have meaningful file name

Images must have a proper file name whenever used on a page. Incase of externally downloaded/created images don’t forget to rename them as per the the context of the blog they are used in.

#seo
#26 All images must contain a meaningful alt/title tag.

Alt tags/title tags have become a hygiene practice as it helps screen reading tools describe images for the visually impaired. Also, search engines can’t see images but can read the text on what the image is about.
#27 Blogs should be optimized for mobile/tablet view

It’s amazing how much content we consume on our mobile devices everyday. Keeping things optimized for the smaller screen in addition to the website is always a good idea to keep readers engaged.
