I am sorry to inform you that it will most likely be the beginning of your challenges.
Why?
#1. As a student,
- You are probably tired of thinking about tuition and living expenses
- You start dreaming of finishing school and getting a post-study work visa
- You think your challenges will be over once you get to this point.
Then you get a post-study work visa.
#2. On your post-study work permit
- This visa only lasts between 1-4 years
- You realise it's not adequate
- You are under pressure not to let it expire
- You don't want to return to a student visa or go back home
- You begin to find work
#3. You had good fortunes and found a job
- You start getting concerned about your temp visa status
- You begin to think about extending this visa or getting a permanent residence
- You start making calls and exploring ways to remain in the country permanently
#4. You get your permanent visa
- The first few days are exciting!
- You realise the bills are still there
- Your responsibilities are higher than they used to be
- You start thinking about more money
- You want to upgrade your income
#5. You got a raise (promotion or new job)
- You begin to think about getting a mortgage
- You start thinking about having a family if you haven't got one yet
- More bills
- Your responsibilities become more
6. You have a job, mortgage and have become a permanent resident
- You want to get hold of the passport
- You want to be a dual citizen
- The thoughts of travelling to top countries without visas sweeten your soul like honey
#7. You get the passport
- You begin to see what your mates are doing
- You want to do more
- You start thinking about buying another house for investment
- You begin to think of getting investments in your home country
- You have more responsibilities
As you can see, challenges never end.
Getting your student visa approved or landing in a new country will not end your challenges.
