On September 6, 2022, the political prisoner Rufat #Khamidulin was released from the pre-trial detention center, replacing the measure of restraint from arrest in the pre-trial detention center to a written undertaking not to leave.

The authorities did not conduct an objective and transparent investigation into the case of torture against Rufat - not a single employee was held accountable. History of Rufat:

Around 9 pm on January 5, 2022, Rufat Khamidulin went to the square in front of the akimat to participate in a peaceful protest. At about 11 am on January 5, he returned home. He did not participate in any riots and pogroms. @KeJankauskas

On January 14, 2022, KNB/police officers came to his place of work, detained him and took him to the police headquarters, where he was tortured and threatened with a long prison term if he did not "confess" to setting fire to two police cars. He was strangled with a bag

and beaten.
⠀
When he refused to give false evidence against himself even after being tortured, Rufat was offered to take responsibility for at least setting fire to one car in exchange for mitigating the preventive measure and punishment.

Despite the demands of Rufat Khamidulin, he was denied medical assistance. For 2 weeks, he was denied access to family members and the opportunity to receive the necessary medicines and food.
8/10
The interrogation on January 14 was attended by investigator M.S. Sayatov, who claimed that the police supposedly had a video that Rufat allegedly set police cars on fire, but did not show this video. According to Rufat's relatives,
9/10
the cars were set on fire after Rufat went home. At 11 am Rufat was already at home, which can be confirmed by a witness.
⠀
A political criminal case was opened against Rufat under article 272 part 2 (“participation in mass riots”).
10/10
The documents in the case of the suspect say that Rufat was allegedly at the rally at 4:00 pm, although he left the house at about 9 pm.
⠀
Eight months have passed. There is no evidence for him.
