It's Sunday, it's also Day 221 of #Russia's war on #Ukraine

Here's the daily thread of news and views around the illegal war.

Yesterday was a memorable one, if you missed anything, scroll through Saturday's posts here:

#StopRussia #StandWithUkraine
Updates from me may be a little delayed today due to my day job (commentating in Budapest), but doing my best!

The @IAEA continues to call for the release of the Director of #Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, who's detained by #Russia.

@RafaelMGrossi is heading there this week
Today is the day #Russia's losses have gone past 60,000

All wasted lives, blood on the hands of one man, plus probably twice as many wounded, many disabled for life.

In the rout of #Lyman, #Ukraine also destroyed so much equipment yesterday:

#SlavaUkraini
Here's the British Intel update for Sunday. Not surprisingly it's all about #Lyman.

Imagine being one of the those reservists mobilised last week, sent straight to the cauldron, sentenced to death by #Russia a week after your normal life was shattered by #Putin.

#StopRussia
#Ukraine's army has been publishing photos of stuff left behind in #Lyman after another chaotic evacuation by #Russia's soldiers

Not sure they're allowed long hair, so can only assume the women's hairbrush here is just another looted item.

#StopPutinNOW #RussiaIsATerroristState
Overnight #Russia struck a college in #KryvyiRih in southern #Ukraine.

This is the home town of President @ZelenskyyUa and a kamikaze drone was used to target the lyceum in the city centre. Still no details from authorities about damage or casualties

#RussiaIsATerroristState
There was also an attack early this morning on #Zaporizhzhia.

#Russia this time targeted some holiday cottages just outside the city centre. Damage and casualties "still being assessed"

#StandWithUkraine #StopRussia

Even though #Russia's army was driven out of #Sumy region over 4 months ago, today an example of the danger which still exists.

An employee of Ukrtelecom died when his car hit a landmine planted by Russians back in the winter.
3 passengers were wounded.

📷Governor Zhivytskyi
Seven people were3 injured when shells hit residential buildings in #Mykolaiv (RU: #Nikolaev) this morning.

Once again S-300 missiles (meant for air defence) were used. A large fire broke out in the city after the attack.

#RussiaIsATerroristState #StandWithUkraine
Soundcloud is the latest app to feel the wrath of the Kremlin!

#Russia's Big Brother has blocked access citing false information (i.e. the truth) being spread!

#StandWithUkraine #StopRussia
We've raised £3,178 for #Ukraine's soldiers - just 11 days left of the appeal.

I know there are a lot of fundraisers but we can source discounted winter clothes and thanks to Polish/Ukrainian Michal and his team, free transport to Ukraine. Thanks💙💛

#Lyman has been completely cleared of #Russia's invaders.

#Ukraine's President made a special short video post on Telegram to inform the nation of the news about the town in #Donetsk region, which two days ago #Putin pledged would forever be Russia.

#SlavaUkraini
#Russia is today claiming this strike in #Dnipro three days ago killed "more than 35 employees of #Ukraine's Security Service, including foreign advisers"

It says in total more than 40 people are missing:
#StopRussia

Another twist in the mystery of the buried sea mines!

You may remember yesterday the videos I posted showing the burial of what seems to have been mines.
Some feared #Russia could contaminate the soil and then explode the bombs. UA Online reckons it was just another 🇷🇺 fake!
#Lyman 1 October 2022

🇬🇧💙💛🇺🇦
I am interested by this propaganda from the Occupiers

"#Russia guarantees all people living on the territory of the LPR, DPR, Kherson & Zaporizhzhia regions the right to preserve and study their native language."

But that's Ukrainian. They shut all🇺🇦language schools in Russia!
Four mushroom pickers have died in #Chernihiv region in #Ukraine after their car hit a Russian mine.

There is a ban on entering forests for this reason, and sadly they paid with their lives.

it's the second mine-tragedy in a day
#RussiaIsATerroristState
Extraordinary claims of #Ukraine success... from a RUSSIAN blogger.

Here's a translation of reports Ukraine's forces broke through deep into Occupied territory in #Kherson region. Completely unconfirmed but look at the map - it could be a #Russia withdrawal to east of the river.
Another of #Russia's jets has been destroyed in #Donetsk region.

#Ukraine's armed forces released these photos of the Su-34, which they did not even know had crashed and was only discovered today in liberated #Lyman.

#SlavaUkraini #StopRussia
After freeing #Lyman, the #Ukraine army has pushed on all the way to #Kreminna where battles are ongoing.

#Russia withdrew to here, but are thought to be having trouble to defend a solid front having retreated in haste and being outnumbered and with inferior artillery.
Didn't #Russia say the war was to defeat Nazis in Kyiv?

Now an influential 🇷🇺channel says
"Either we will win on the territory of the former Ukraine, or we will have to win in Russia. Every fighter must understand this; he went to war so that the war would not come to his house"

It's Day 1336 of Russia's full invasion, but that only started because the world didn't provide a deterrent almost 12 years ago when Putin first tested the west's response by invading Crimea

The west failed the test. Are we about to fail the biggest exam too?
It's Tim's daily🧵
There was a big drone attack on western Russia last night, with Rostov in particular feeling the heat

There was also plenty of heat again on Russia's largest gas facility, the Georgian 'government' doing Russia's fascist work, and an a tragedy in Kherson
Ukraine was subjected to 6 missiles and almost 100 attack drones overnight.

None of the 2 ballistics, or 4 S-300 missiles was shot down

Of 98 UAVs launched, 3 were still flying.
Of the remaining 95, just 58 were stopped = 61%

Russia's 37 drones and 6 missiles hit 10 locations Image

An explosive start to Day 1334 of Russia's 10-day operation to erase Ukraine from the map.

Not quite #EATP for Putin.
An early start to Sunday's thread as we have news from central and eastern Russia.

All the news, all the time, every damn day. Here we go again!
So much happened yesterday and the fireworks really started in the last couple of hours.

Do yourself a favour and have a quick skim through what you missed from Saturday's news about Ukraine's battle for survival. Incredibly only 14,000 views😳🫣

Two major hits by Ukraine this morning, way, way back, deep into Russia.

Those with me a few minutes ago will already know some of the details but we have a few more sights to show you, starting in Orenburg.

Here, locals say a gas plant has been hit by drones. Image

Hello on Thursday morning, 16 October 2025.

Russia is now going all out to make life unliveable for Ukraine's citizens, destroying all energy and heat infrastructure it can.

While Ukraine hits energy targets too, it's almost all to hit Russia's exports/finances.

Here's the🧵
Day 1331 is well underway: I hope we can penetrate the algorithm and get people to actually see today's🧵

Yesterday, views for the 1st page is at 16k, about half what it should be. Please quote tweet or repost various posts during the day

Catch up here:
Last night I wrote of a possible hit on another refinery.

In the last couple of minutes, Ukraine has confirmed the strike in Saratov, which they say directly supports Russia's army.

It's refining capacity is almost 5m tons.

Every Single Day.
Ukraine's brave men and women on (or supporting) the frontline cannot switch off, so neither shall I in documenting the major events of Russia's horrific war.

As we begin a new week, it's the 1,321st Daily Thread - never missed one yet. So let's dive-in..
Well it's been lively overnight in Russia, with many reports of Ukraine's drones causing problems.

You can see photos and video from those reports at the end of yesterday's thread, which began with more daytime strikes by Moscow's war criminals...

I'll start with the numbers as Ukraine launched more than twice as many drones as Russia overnight according to official defence figures.

Moscow says it downed 251 UAVs, while Kyiv reports 116 long range drones fired by Russia, of which 83 were stopped (72% success)> Image

Tuesday 30 September 2025 - it's Day 1315 of Russia's full invasion. That's 3 years, 7 months and one week of Ukraine trying to defend itself against an infinitely bigger army.

But Ukrainians have a just cause and the sum is much bigger than the parts.

Here's the daily thread:
A shorter thread yesterday, with not a lot of ground-breaking news. But still more than 30 posts, you may like to catch up on, such as Russia's moaning about its election interference in Moldova coming to nothing!

Yesterday I showed the remarkable downing of a Russian military helicopter by an FPV drone - the price disparity is also incredible.

That hit is included in today's table of Russia's losses during the war, but elsewhere numbers are a little lower. Image

Hello again everybody. Are we ready for Day 1311 of Ukraine's defence against the all-out invasion by a Kremlin horde? I know I am, so let's go.

Documenting all the important news, and Russian war crimes, every single day - still never missed one - this is THE daily thread:
You can almost smell the weekend approaching, but first let's look back at Thursday.

Another wide variety of stories, and what a contrast. Almost record numbers of likes on BSky yet way below par number of views here on X.
Review what you missed here:

Today let's start with some damage in Russia.

Ukraine's drones were probing various places during the night and found another way through to the Afipsky oil refinery.

The Krasnodar region continues to be a good hunting ground in recent days.
