Having recently sat down to think & note all types of sports (team vs indiv, contact vs non-contact,etc) that could handle a “third (tr*ns) category,” I am concerned about the impending chaos in #sport.
Even “open” is tricky.
It really seems best to stick w/ binary MALE & FEMALE.
If someone identifies in a particular way to the point where they interfere with their own body - hormones & surgeries - that’s not on #sports. That’s a choice made by an individual athlete no different than choosing to retire. In a truly “inclusive” society a feminine male…
…should not have to blink at remaining in the MALE #sports category irrespective of conceptual identity or ideology. And we know that most female-born athletes who identify as men or NB stay in the female category already (and would do so even IF the was a third category!). So…
…WHAT are we really all jumping through hoops for?
👉🏼Male-born athletes whose cognitive sensibilities are hurt by being included in a category called “men.” That’s what it really boils down to: hours of excruciating conjecture on #sport categories to assuage the feelings of XY.
And for anybody who says: But what about kids in sport and their opportunities?
Answer: They are still MALE and FEMALE kids!
If they are going to participate in competitive #sports (not talking about recreation), they must learn there are two categories.
Early #sport shows…
…the pathway that these young people will have to follow from development right up to elite levels.
They should not be lied to about what will be expected of them (re: categorical participation) when they someday arrive at a World Championship.
We should allow them to make an…
…informed decision very early in the process - before investing years of sweat & tears (and considerable $$!) into a #sport -whether they can handle being classified in a realm where biological sex is the only thing that matters.
And for anyone who asks: But what about…
…the children who have had hormonal treatments early and/or had surgery to alter their bodies to appear as the opposite sex?
All I can say is: In almost ALL cases, doing that to a child or teen is worse than unethical!
It is NOT on #sports to fix that problem.
Sport should be…
…blind to all such sociological and/or ideological trends.
I really think that after we have travelled through this rabbit tunnel of dystopian “what ifs” on #sports categories, we will arrive at the conclusion that the MALE 🆚 FEMALE is the ONLY system that works.
End. 🛑

Part of this #UNSPORTING situation is the need to ask.
This is the inevitable endpoint, right?
Bullying & gaslighting of female athletes, all for the sake of #sports organizations TRYING to be “inclusive” of (largely) privileged white males representing ~0.15% of the population.
Since I am both a former athlete, #sports program designer, and personal coach who also serves as president of a provincial sports organization (governance), my perspective of “big picture” informs me that retaking lost ground requires a coordinated effort.
One-off efforts …
…will make headlines but deep within #sport random boycotts or tweeting something will never be enough. Nothing wrong with these initial measures, but something much more comprehensive is going to be required, involving:
Athletes
Coaches
Families
Sponsors
Bureaucrats
Politicians
@JimBUWDawg LOL
Hold on.
I need to check my notes.
@JimBUWDawg So here's the deal, Jim.
It was utterly heartbreaking to listen to a woman who had no idea even 5 months ago what the trans movement was.
Her focus was on her daughter being on an @IvyLeague@NCAA swim team with bright hopes for a new season.
@JimBUWDawg@IvyLeague@NCAA As she looked through the early season times being posted by various swimmers, she notices some unbelievable times by someone called #LiaThomas.
She looks it up and realizes this is a man who now self-identifies as a woman an whom her daughter will now have to be competing with.
Over this past weekend I took 18hr the CPR/FirstAid course in person.
Instructor was brilliant in anatomical knowledge & engaging!
Demonstrating palpation technique, he showed how to turn palm away from victim while checking chest area, due to sensitivity based upon gender.
June 23 is the anniversary of #TitleIX; that wonderful law un #USA 🇺🇸 that enabled me to get my scholarship & education.
To commemorate I will demonstrate the difference in argument between those who wish to usurp women’s #sports and women like me who fight to preserve it.
1/12⬇️
The years 2015-2020 have revealed an insidious disregard for the #female category by #OlympicGames@olympics executives and their corporate sponsors.
Male (XY) 🧬athletes now allowed into XX events.
Time to take stock re #women’s #sports.
Where did we begin?
Where are we going?
Our story begins in the Egyptian Middle Kingdom (2000 B.C.)
Forms of women’s competition were somewhat different than we experience in 2020 A.D.
Contests revolved around two key aspects of #Egyptian life: 1. Food acquisition- #hunting & #fishing 2. Entertaining - #acrobatics
True #sports for women really began in Ancient Greece during the Classical period (400 B.C.). Unmarried girls had their own private competitions - also at Olympia every 4years.
These were separate from the men’s games.
The festivals were held in honour of Hera, wife of Zeus.
@Muttmere1@BillieJeanKing@GovernorLittle@Martina@sharrond62 1/ I use “ethical” rather than invoking “fairness”, because of the predictable retort “who said life would be fair”. Having males in female sports goes beyond natural unfairness (typical skill variation)- it is a purposeful decision to disadvantage 50% of #Athlete population
@Muttmere1@BillieJeanKing@GovernorLittle@Martina@sharrond62 2/ It’s not #sports.
In sports we have distinct categories based upon clearly defined boundaries so that the outcome has a specific meaning.
Example: Automobile racing.
👉🏼There would be no meaning to a race if a F1 🏎 would be allowed into #NASCAR race.
Different structures.
