SitRep - 20/10/2022 - "Is #Kherson preparing?"

An overview of daily events in Ukraine. Today a day where relatively little happened, but at the same time in the north (Belarus) there is more and more reason to think that a new front could be opened.

We start the day with Russian losses.

Overnight 🇷🇺 attacked Ukraine with mostly kamikaze drones. 14 of them were shot down.

Today there was not much missile/drone activity compared to the past days. Only in #Kyiv and #Mykolaiv this morning missiles were shot down or inflicted no damage.

In #Kyiv this picture appeared what looks to be a missile from the IRIS-T airdefense system delivered by Germany to Ukraine.

Early this morning, #Belgorod in Russia was once again targetted by Ukrainian guided projectiles. Footage was seen of civilians hiding in basements.

The AFU destroyed a pontoon crossing in L'vove, Kherson. It was already reported some weeks ago that a pontoon would be build there.

The Czech Republic confirmed it will support Ukraine further. It wasn't disclosed in which form. Earlier Czech media reported that T-72 tanks, BMP-1 IFVs, Dana howitzers, and potentially Soviet-made combat helicopters would be among the supplies provided.

This part of the sitrep horrifies me. Russia removed a memorial monument for #Holodomor. Holodomor is a genocide-by-famine committed by former USSR.

While the war continues inside of Ukraine, outside Ukraine in #Belarus, Russian troop build up continues. Now visually confirmed by satelite images.

Also pontoon crossing parts are being shipped to #Belarus. Why would you need such equipment for defensive matters?

The General Staff comments about a growing threat of a repeated offensive from the territory of Belarus and thinks that Russia wants to cut off Western arms supply routes to Ukraine from the west of the country.

➡️AFU attacked Antonivsky area
➡️🇺🇦believes the Nova Kahkovka dam is mined by Russia
➡️According to locals, Russian forces mostly left Beryslav city
➡️Unconfirmed: Shops in #Kherson don't accept Rubles anymore

Most important info came from the 205th SMR Br. fighting in #Kherson, in the Mylove-Bruskynske axis. Talking about a heavily demoralized brigade/unit and retreat

Also info came out that a lot of Kadyrovites are being replaced by new mobilized soldiers.

#Kreminna "Stalemate, with artillery working"

➡️Fighting continues NW of Kreminna
➡️AFU artillery works on the exits of Kreminna. ➡️Russia shelled #Zarichne, #Bilohorivka, #Torske, #Terny and #Yampolivka settlements.

➡️In #Kreminna there are reports of Russian soldiers looting houses. They look for cars and literally take everything they can if a house is unoccupied.

I think no direct offensive operations are prepared by the AFU to take Kreminna. Main focus is Svatove, and encircle Kreminna

#Bakhmut: "Hot as hell"

➡️No confirmed changes
➡️Russia shelled Bakhmut, #Soledar, #Zelenopillya and #Yakovlivka
➡️Fighting ongoing in the the districts of #Ivangrad, #Odradivka and #Opytny. They are the hottest.

This area is extremely difficult for AFU forces.

#Kupyansk-#Svatove: "Waiting for the push"

➡️No confirmed changes
➡️Svatove was shelled by AFU. Locals report increased attacks coming from the north.
➡️ Russian blogger Anastasia Kashervarova revealed info about #Svatove..
