1️⃣ £10 BILLION - Lower Thames Crossing

A tunnel connecting Kent and Essex under the Thames estuary. 14.3 miles of new road and widening of the A2 and M2 in Kent

This will bring a massive increase in emissions and loss of wildlife and surrounding natural areas

2️⃣ £2.5 BILLION - A303 Stonehenge scheme

The #StonehengeTunnel, a road tunnel underneath on of our countries top heritage sites.

It has a benefit cost ratio (BCR) of 0.55 or less, i.e. it will cost more than it would ever generate in economic benefits.

3️⃣ £1.3 BILLION - A66 Northern Transpennine

This would dual the remaining sections of the road between A1(M) and M6.

The project would increase CO2 emission by up to 4.4 million tonnes from extra traffic and during construction.

4️⃣ £1.3 BILLION - A12 Chelmsford to A120 widening scheme

As with all of these schemes - this will also lead to increased noise and #airpollution.

This is particularly bad for walking and cycling and it will separate many communities.

5️⃣ £1 BILLION - A428 Black Cat to Caxton Gibbet

Same story - increase in pollution, loss of countryside and destruction of wildlife habitat.

But again a poor business case and money would be better spent on a new East-West rail link.

⚠️ £46.3 MILLION - South East Bradford Access Road

While we are at it @bradfordmdc and @WestYorkshireCA should scrap the #TongValley Road @savetongvalley

@bradfordgreens are calling on @MayorOfWY and #Bradford Council to stop wasting money and cancel the scheme once and for all

🌳 The #Tong and Fulneck Valley is the last bit of green space between #Bradford and #Leeds.

🚛 This is being sold as a "congestion reduction" scheme

🏘️ But it is more about "freeing up green space" for house building

Instead of building new roads, @TheGreenParty would:

🚌 Invest in #PublicTransport to make it frequent, affordable and reliable.
🚸 Promote walking and #cycling to give people more options.
🏢 Have a sensible planning policy which promotes the above.
