Dear friends, welcome to today's episode of #navigatewithidy brought to you by @c_shepherds. Today, we have a special guest on the show in person of Prof Oritsejafor who will be joining Mr. @IdyEnang to discuss on the topic "Indigenous Knowledge Leadership."
Indigenous knowledge (IK) is the value of knowledge that has been used over time, over centuries & centuries. They have been proven to be very successful & sustainable.
Indigenous knowledge is not just unique to one particular cultural context, they are also very dynamic as you can find it being used in North-West America among the indigenous people.
When you take a combination of indigenous knowledge, how it’s been used globally depending on the sector you want to talk about. It is so dynamic & so unique to dealing with developing issues in different contexts globally.
The whole paradigm of indigenous knowledge will help us understand: what are the alternatives for us? How can we fix this problem of good governance & democratic ethos that is often missing in our environment today.
Agricultural revolution, economic revolution and any change that needs to happen around the African continent sits within indigenous knowledge when you look at where we are today.
Today, we have gone to import leadership styles, we’ve gone ahead to import paradigms, and so many others that we are beginning to de-emphasize what we have within the scope of African and where we are.
Africa is a continent with massive resources & unbelievable dynamism in terms of ethnic cultural diversification but there is always that area of commonality.
Our identities are somewhat different from one region to another but there are some shared values. But how come we cannot collapse these shared values into real good governance & leadership?
One of the challenges we find in our community with using indigenous knowledge is that it is tantamount to some other cultural imperialism where we have come to believe what belongs to the Western world is better than ours...
Some values need to be re-instituted through the family & our educational system needs to have a tweak in the curriculum, or perhaps revitalize some of the curriculum that was present in the past.
Languages are being created everyday. Language is part of culture & if culture is not being static, if it is dynamic, then the dynamism in us should bridge that gap between the poor, the wealthy, literate & non-literate, and develop our own language
@IdyEnang@LagosTalks913 Ethnicity is still a very profound variable when you are thinking about democracy & governance in Nigeria. Ethnicity is being supplanted by other national identities such as economic factors...

Distinguished friends & listeners of #navigatewithidy, how are you today? We trust you are keeping well & gearing up for the festive season.
On Tuesday,@IdyEnang continued with the conversation on #servantleadership. Here are the excerpts from the Tuesday edition.
Leadership is something that permeates every strata of society right from our homes to our communities, to our offices, to our places of work, to where we play and to whatever we do.
Dear friends & listeners of #navigatewithidy, we trust you are keeping well & ready to join us for today's conversation on 91.3FM @LagosTalks913. Before today's edition, here are some excerpts from last week Thursday's program.
Leadership is a baffling subject, one that people will always grope to understand its nature. It is one of the most observed and least understood phenomena.
Dear friends, we continued our conversation on servant-leadership yesterday while taking references from Robert Neuschel's book titled: "The Servant Leader: Unleashing the Power of Your People."
It was indeed an interesting episode & here are the excerpts.
You cannot live in the past. Great as the past might be, it isn't significant when you are looking at the present. It does not create a sense for the future because it is the NOW that creates the future
Friends, we trust you are keeping well & the week has started off on a great note. Last week Tuesday, we started an interesting topic titled "Servant Leadership."
This discuss was based on the wealth of Mr. @IdyEnang's experiences & also from a book by Robert P. Neuschel titled: The Servant Leader: Unleashing the Power of Your People.
Enjoy these excerpts & if you have questions, please send an email to contact@navigatewithidy.com
We started the program by look at what Mr. @IdyEnang termed the Neuschel’s nuggets: 1. It is not the lot of the leader to be served but rather it is his/her privilege to serve: this is a fundamental truth that most people fail to internalize.
