United by three powerful networks

The Future of #Shimmer, Assembly, and #IOTA
The beta release of #IOTA Smart Contracts (ISC) in October 2021 marked the beginning of a boom in Web3 application development on IOTA.
A staging network would be quite helpful, as demonstrated by the ISC release and the advancements made toward an entirely decentralized IOTA 2.0 version (Coordicide).
#IOTA requires a strong scalable, permissionless, and decentralized ecosystem to support future advancements on the #IOTA infrastructure layer.
Decentralized exchanges, #DAOs, #NFT drops, several DeFi apps, lending platforms, #airdrops, and even significant fundraising for various projects have all been observed thus far.
The brilliant brains behind these and other projects are the target audience for the Assembly network, which was created especially for them.
A parallelized multi-chain network of blockchains called Assembly will serve as a highly scalable and adaptable foundation for the next ecosystems.
The interdependencies between the three networks and their intended upgrade milestones have grown dramatically as a result of IOTA's enhanced usefulness as the best infrastructure anchoring layer for the Assembly network.

The accompanying roadmap, which depicts the historical
sequence in which milestones for each network will be attained, was put together to offer a clearer picture of the relationships between milestones and relevant networks and to give a deeper insight into the next advancements.

Initial 90-day staking term for IOTA tokens
Assembly and Shimmer coins' 90-day staking time for #IOTA tokens came to an end on March 28, 2022, and new staking periods for the Assembly and #IOTA networks took their place.
While #IOTA staking for Shimmer tokens ceases with the conclusion of the initial token staking period, IOTA staking for Assembly will continue immediately after the conclusion of the first staking period.
The whole quantity of #Shimmer tokens has been distributed to stakeholders as of its conclusion.

Immediately after #IOTA token staking intervals
After a brief downtime during which Hornet nodes and the Firefly wallet software will receive upgrades, staking #IOTA tokens for Assembly tokens will restart.

Owners of Hornet nodes will be informed to upgrade their nodes via public channels.
The #Firefly Github repository makes it possible to follow the development of the #Firefly wallet.

Staking will restart and rewards will be given regularly, just like during the 90-day staking period, after the #Firefly wallet and Hornet nodes have been properly upgraded.
Following the introduction of the Assembly network, as explained further below, staking the obtained ASMB tokens from these first two staking periods will be feasible.

Internal pre-Shimmer testnet (Stardust-based)
Before being implemented on the #IOTA mainnet, the feature-rich Stardust Tokenization Framework Protocol update will be tested on Shimmer.
As a result, Stardust will go through two testing phases before the real Shimmer network's launch: the first will be an internal pre-Shimmer testnet, and the second will be a public beta version.
The new #Stardust #Tokenization Framework Protocol and #IOTA Smart Contract (ISC) support will both be included in the initial round of internal testing.
The #Shimmer staging network ledger will become a multi-asset ledger with additional capabilities including native assets, native L1 NFTs, and more with the help of #Stardust.

Treasury vote for DAO
There will be a significant event for all supporters of liquid democracy in the #IOTA community between the staking of #IOTA tokens and the internal testing of Shimmer with Stardust: The first-ever #IOTA community vote on a token-based voting mechanism.
#IOTA token holders will be able to decide what happens to unclaimed treasury tokens by casting a vote in the #Firefly wallet.

Alpha integration of the #IOTA Smart Contracts Virtual Machine (ISC VM)
Without an Ethereum virtual computer, what would a platform for smart contracts be?

#IOTA will support EVM-compatible smart contracts using the #IOTA Smart Contracts Virtual Machine.
Before being made available to the general public, the first integration of the virtual machine will undergo internal testing.
The virtual machine will be utilized by #Shimmer before being used by Assembly to virtualize #Ethereum smart contracts after being put through its paces.

Public beta network for Pre-Shimmer
The network will be made available to the general public once internal testing of the Stardust update has been successfully completed.

The largest issues will be identified and resolved before the @shimmernet network's formal debut through extensive public testing.
Builders may now use a permissioned environment on the #Shimmer network to deploy their ISC contracts.

This makes it possible to verify their integration prior to their initial deployment in a real-world setting.

introduction of the #Shimmer network
The #Shimmer network will be made available when the Stardust update has been tried, tested, and validated.
After the first 90-day staking period, all token allocations (the ledger balances) must be verified by the community before the project's launch in order for the Shimmer token creation event to proceed.
The #Shimmer token will become freely transferable when the network launches.

SMR tokens will be accessible to #IOTA stakeholder users using the Firefly wallet.
Builders will be able to create their initial Shimmer apps, complete with native assets and native L1 NFTs, thanks to the new Stardust features.

Additionally, Layer 2 applications, such as Layer 2 #NFTs and smart assets on Assembly, will be built on top of Stardust.
It will also be possible to search the #Shimmer network for transactions, addresses, tokens, and other items using existing #IOTA network tooling, such as a network explorer.
Now that the native #Shimmer network with its multi-ledger architecture and native assets has been established, developers may start deploying and testing smart contracts based on it.

Launch of #Shimmer EVM (Public IOTA Smart Contracts Virtual Machine)
The integration of the ISC virtual machine enables builders to deploy their dApps after the Stardust update has been deployed, tested, and made operational.
In order to get the ISC virtual machine ready for its complete deployment on the #IOTA mainnet, builders test, and trial the ShimmerEVM integration and deploy their apps utilizing the virtual machine.

Improved #IOTA #Stardust
The #IOTA mainnet will use the Stardust #Tokenization Framework once it has been validated in the #Shimmer #network.
The #IOTA network will gain a new degree of utility as a result, and this will also provide the groundwork for the integration of smart contracts, which will eventually allow the Assembly network to go live.
Native assets will be able to connect to the #IOTA network thanks to Stardust.

Because they don't require gas prices to be transmitted, #NFTs on #IOTA will be substantially different from those offered by rivals.
In-game characters will be able to purchase certain products on their own, as well as receive and distribute tokens, thanks to the creation of #NFTs that store other local assets.

Launch of the assembly root chain on IOTA
Beginning with the establishment of its root chain on the #IOTA mainnet, the Assembly network will roll out gradually until it reaches its fully intended condition of a scalable, decentralized multi-chain network.
Assembly coins will be able to be freely traded after the Assembly root chain is launched.

Later, the ability to stake $ASMB tokens will enable the acquisition of $ASMB at an annual inflation rate of 8%.

Following the introduction of the Assembly root chain, they will also
offer associated development tooling, an Assembly-compatible Firefly wallet update, and a network explorer that allows users to browse and search the Assembly network for transactions, addresses, #tokens, and other information.
It will also be possible to explore every #Assembly smart contract.

The #IOTA stake

The #staking of #IOTA tokens for ASMB tokens will get back up after the #Firefly and Hornet nodes have been updated.
Up until a total of 24 months of staking have been completed, the overall staking term is still in effect.

Coordicide and impending first-ever real-world validation

The Coordinator-less #IOTA 2.0 DevNet is being created, tested, and enhanced constantly.
They will be able to introduce Coordicide components into a functioning network for the first time thanks to the launch of the @shimmernet network.
The #IOTA 2.0 DevNet is built on a GoShimmer prototype node, which is designed for quick iterations to maintain a high velocity and test components before they can be implemented on the Shimmer network: transitioning from "GoShimmer" to just "Shimmer."
All iterations adhere to this procedure: Elements are incorporated into the production-ready #Hornet and #Bee node software to be tested in real-world scenarios on the #Shimmer mainnet after being validated in GoShimmer on the #IOTA.
