Senior Iranian officials flew to #Russia last month to visit site of planned factory meant to build at least 6,000 drones Moscow would use to target #Ukraine according to a WSJ report wsj.com/articles/mosco…
The visit took place in the #Russian town of Yelabuga, about east of Moscow
The Iranian delegation was led by Brig. Gen. Abdollah Mehrabi, head of the IRGC Aerospace Force Research and Self-Sufficiency Jihad Organization, and Ghassem Damavandian, the chief executive of Iran’s Quds Aviation Industry (involved in drone-manufacturing)
According to the WSJ report, #Iran is working with Russia to develop a Shahed-136 drone that would include a new engine making it fly faster and farther
This last part, I think is just as worrying as the rest (though not unsurprising): It shows that Russia isn't just buying Iranian drones, it's working to make them more efficient.
The Iran-Russia partnership is deepening, which was to be expected.
It's bolstering Russia's ability to wage war in #Ukraine, but also #Iran's own drone capabilities.
You can't ignore the last part just because it's convenient.
[cough, cough **Israel** cough]

#Iran's supreme leader, Ali Khamenei, has agreed to the proposal by the Head of the Judiciary calling for mass amnesty and a broad reduction of penalties for suspects and convicts in recent incidents, according to Iranian media outlets
As expected there are plenty of caveats to this purported "mass amnesty", including not committing espionage, not having direct contact with "foreign agents", not committing a murder, not committing arson, etc.

Given how arbitrary the Iranian judiciary is, this leaves plenty of leeway for the Islamic Republic to decide who is released and who isn't
Quite the escalation in #Israel, as the Supreme Court (which the Netanyahu-led government is trying to curtail) just disqualified the appointment of Aryeh Deri, a key religious ally of Bibi, as Interior and Health Minister
Netanyahu's far-right ally, Itamar Ben Gvir is already up in arms, calling this decision a "legal coup"
The petitioner who started the case against Deri (namely the Movement for Quality Government) has called on Netanyahu to respect the ruling, saying that the government “is not a rehabilitation facility for criminals,” (referring to Deri's multiple convictions)
