.@BBCNews at Six tonight covered UK food shortages and rationing and mislead viewers in the process. Not one single mention of Brexit. Instead, bad weather in Morocco. π #FoodShortages#FoodRationing#Brexit
Tonight on the @BBCNews at Six they actually mentioned #Brexit but @BBCEmmaSimpson didn't mention the longstanding arrangements the European Union has with Morocco outlined in the tweets below. Instead, it's mostly the weather + EU citizens prepared to pay higher prices. 1/2
The simple fact is that we are back in the queue AFTER the #EU27. The UK has a secondary priority even with a 'continuity' agreement. We don't offer Morocco the support that the EU does. So, #Brexit *is* a material factor on top of the bad weather.
And here's quite a sight over in Tenerife! ππ» It would be really helpful if reporters like @BBCEmmaSimpson could show us other 3rd countries that have the same shortages currently blighting the UK because the European Union seems to be doing just fine. π
And here's a thread backing up what many of us here have been saying. Johnson's government fails again. All the hype and zero substance. Have a read of this @BBCEmmaSimpson@Channel4News... ππ»
Here's the BBC News at Six clip that I was commenting on. We are being mislead again by @BBCNews. I cannot quite belive that the BBC I knew, loved and respected as a teenager - has fallen so far. π£ #BrexitFoodShortages#Brexit
One of the reasons why we have food shortages right now is good old #Brexit fraud. A freight ferry service that was meant to go between Tangiers and Poole but never went anywhere. How much taxpayers money did that swallow up? π£
And here's an incredibly full supermarket in Portugal. All of these countries have an advantageous deal with Morocco. The European Union offer finance and support to Morocco to help their trade route. That puts the EU at the top of the queue.
Some 25 years ago, I caught a virus because I'd been sitting next to a man who, the previous day, had stepped off an aircraft from Tunisia. In French, he told his girlfriend that he'd been feeling mildly unwell during the journey. That virus ended my career as a radiographer. π
It wasn't the virus itself that ended my career. My body had an adverse reaction to me having that virus just as people are having adverse reactions to #COVID19. My immune system went wrong and never put itself right again.
Same can be said for some of those with #LongCOVID.
For me, I had a flair up that was later confirmed as #BehΓ§etsDisease but was wrongly diagnosed as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I've noticed in the Press and media that people with #LongCOVID are being told they have Chronic Fatigue. So, I can understand what they're going through.π
This year has been totally different for our Great Spotted Woodpeckers. Last year they had 4 young who were all eating off the ground. This year they've had 2 young who have grown up fast. These clips are from yesterday when one young Woodpecker did eat off the ground. 1/n
This thread is really about how this baby Woodpecker interacts with other birds and especially a pigeon. It sees off other birds to claim the food for itself and it sees off the pigeon. But, in clip 5, the pigeon stands ground and shocks the Woodpecker. 2/n
So, this is the pecking order in action. Once the pigeon asserts itself, the Woodpecker returns but accepts it being there.
Just want to say that @BorisJohnson & @SajidJavid are playing a very dangerous game. By allowing case numbers to grow, the UK has more cases than the entire #EU27 combined. We are a petri dish for a new mutation that could out smart present vaccines & could endanger the world. π
And, this government is also condemning young people to catching #COVID19 and the risk of suffering #LongCOVID. People over in the US are horrified that school age children are not wearing masks and are not yet being vaccinate. Our schools are presently super-spreader sites.
Had a phone call from my friend in Belgium who watches French news channels. One channel has a daily debate & today they discussed #Brexit with two UK journalists amongst the panel.
One thing was certain. If Johnson doesn't pay the Β£39 Billion there won't be any trade deal. 1/4
Also, they had a really good interview with Steve Bray @snb19692 & other #Remain campaigners. Overall that part of the programme was very optimistic.
One other thing was very clear. The brinkmanship strategy that Johnson is using will fail. The #EU27 are united. 2/4
The EU Withdrawal Agreement has been painstakingly negotiated over a 2 year period. Every possibility regarding the N.I. backstop was explored. The best solution that respected the Good Friday Agreement was the version in the agreement. 3/4
