From 1529 to 1543 #Somali ruler from #Adal empire named Ahmed #Gurey aka Ahmed #Gran annihilated #Amhara army after many assaults. Ahmed also roamed freely across #Abyssinia for almost two decades and pillaged at will. Ashamedly #Amhara emperor Lebna Dengel run away as coward-2/9

As anticipated emperor #Dengel asked military aid from his #Portuguese ally as he wasn’t able to face Somalis alone. This will become a familiar theme for #Amharas who are actually accustomed to begging military aid from foreign allies against Somalis for almost six centuries-3/9

#Somalis were able to astoundingly defeat #Portuguese army and killed its #commander Cristóvão da #Gama in 1942 as he was aiding and abetting #Amharas. Emperor #Dengel of #Abyssinia was also killed which is an amazing achievement by #Gurey’s Somali army against our arch enemy-4/9

Another Somali ruler Amir Nur Ibn Mujahid assumed the mantle. Once again Somalis were able to defeat Amhara army along with its Portuguese ally. Sayid Mohammed Abdullah Hassan led an armed resistance against #British, #Italian and Abyssinian #colonial armies for almost 25 years. As for 1977 War @SNAForce annihilated Abyssinia’s army and assumed full authority over almost all of Western Somalia region which Britain annexed 1954. #SovietUnion arranged #Libyan and #Yemeni armies, as well as 17,000 Cubans and 1,500 #Russian military advisors who rescued beleaguered #Abyssinian army. @SNAForce stood admirably against assaults by these mercenaries assisted by $2.3B Russian military aid for almost 6 months-8/9

I am confident aspirations of all Somalis to live together as one people which is symbolised by five pointed star on our flag will be attained. As you are aware our ancestors had fought against arch enemy of #Abyssinia for almost eight centuries which is an artificial entity-9/9
