there’s a few things I thought were important to talk about that me and other advocates in the community have been discussing. It seems that in this community if you do one thing wrong then there’s nothing you can do to stop people coming after you despite apologising

and publicly and learning from what you did wrong. It’s almost as if you get bullied and chased out of the community and there’s no recovering from if as people won’t let you. That isn’t okay. It pushes people out of the community and isolated them.

Like one of the advocates said to me, what’s going on is ableism and people aren’t willing to open their eyes and see the ableism going on.
Autistic people are expected to understand and respond perfectly when they’ve done something wrong.

But theres no understanding about an autistic persons:
1. Communication difficulties
2. Ability to understand/ process
3. Might need longer time to process what they’ve done wrong and and learn from it.

Its ableist to hold autistic people accountable and expect them to respond and understand things in the way you would a neurotypical person.

this treatment isn’t acceptable. I’m getting sick of the nastiness and the bullying in this community and all of the drama and people blowing things out of proportion.

As Autistic people we often do not recognise straight away if we are doing something wrong and some of us don’t think things through before doing or saying something. It doesn’t excuse doing something wrong but it is an explanation for why this happens and is often unintentional.

We get enough bullying and being misunderstood by neurotypical people and them having ableist expectations of us and our capabilities.

It’s just got to stop.

It’s hard as an Autistic person being expected not to make any mistakes and then when you make one people trying to destroy you completely and won’t stop but then claim they are the victims yet they continue this on even though a persons remorseful and apologises.

(Please note that it is a completely different situation when someone INTENTIONALLY means to cause harm, abuse or bigotry)
