@wopizza@cityofcalgary Here's a quick primer, but anyone of any political affiliation - left and right - can quickly connect the dots on what's happened to women's safe spaces in #Canada.

@wopizza@cityofcalgary Globally, the Yogyakarta Principles – having not been accepted by the UN States – is now being pushed onto Western nations. The definition of Gender Identity in the YP is quite similar to what you’re seeing on the Calgary procedure.
@wopizza@cityofcalgary Robert Wintemute, a global Human Rights expert and an original signatory of the YP for Canada and UK, has since withdrawn. recognizing that they did not consider the impact of SOGI on women.
@wopizza@cityofcalgary Here in Canada, no doubt through the lobbying work of ARC International, pushed through #billc16 around 2016-17. The Gender Based Analysis has not been released, until recently through great pressure to #ReleasetheGBA by @ReleaseTheGba but it's deeply redacted. Like over 60%.
@wopizza@cityofcalgary@ReleaseTheGba Most likely the GBA is meant to root out inherent bias against Canadian women, in all our true diversity as #adulthumanfemale, and give transparency to the risks and impacts of new policy and how to mitigate them in real life.
@wopizza@cityofcalgary@ReleaseTheGba It’s like a corporation throwing a new policy at employees and stakeholders, and not creating protocols and procedures to implement – and all without clear of sight to the risks the policy is trying to manage.

@wopizza@cityofcalgary@ReleaseTheGba It appears politicians saw no constituent or voter objection to the bill on the basis of angusreid.org/transgender-is… research which only asked Canadians about trans acceptance and protecting them from discrimination in terms of housing and workplaces.
10/
@wopizza@cityofcalgary@ReleaseTheGba No one was asked about gender overtaking sex in law and society.
Very few people could see that, while gender expression and identity appear equally protected under our @CanadianCharter, that sex would take a back seat as a protected characteristic.
They thought they were following the #bekind mantra and being "inclusive"
@wopizza@cityofcalgary@ReleaseTheGba@CanadianCharter Women’s Declaration International was stood up in recent years by concerned women globally. Everything from protecting sex-based spaces, language, motherhood, protecting against child transition, which is experimental, etc.
This is not unique to Canada or Calgary.

@ctvottawa The hijacking that occurred on #IWD2023 showed #canpoli & funded orgs shamelessly falling over themselves to centre males. They exposed themselves as having done nothing of significance to address real issues affecting women #OnTheBasisOfSex, like repro rights, #femicide, #VAW.
@ctvottawa#Canadians are told ‘there’s no gender equality without trans women’, but no one can back up the rhetoric with substance. No one can answer the simple inquiring question, Why?
Why are female sex-based rights & protections as enshrined in the @CanadianCharter being held hostage?
@ctvottawa@CanadianCharter Why are males, especially rapists and violent offenders who begin identifying as trans after their crimes and convictions, being placed in the Women's prison estate? And all this against the Geneva convention.
On #InternationalWomensDay2023, special shout out to Reem Alsalem UN Special Rapporteur on Violence against Women and Girls. @UNSRVAW, is a very challenging UN role right now, in a world that seems to be waging a new #waronwomen the #femalesex, and especially on our #oneday
