In the fourth year of this ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, no Canadian CMHO/PHO has yet acknowledged that SARS-CoV-2 is airborne and spreads like cigarette smoke.
4/ If provincial/territorial Public Health leaders won’t protect the health & wellbeing of all who call Canada home, we as concerned citizens have decided to fill the Public Health gap, with #CovidAwarenessWeek on all social media platforms, and through press & radio.
5/ We are living in an alternate reality world. One where people have been led to believe by their provincial or territorial Public Health leaders, that Covid-19 is now a “mild” infection or “just a cold.” Reality could not be any further from the truth.
7/Our public health leaders are completely ignoring the fact that just like Covid deaths don’t stop after 30 days of the acute infection, neither does the health damage from the SARS-CoV-2 virus magically end after an acute infection. #COVIDAwarenessWeek
8/#COVIDIsNotMild “The biochemical abnormalities in children are exactly the same as you get in adults. So the stuff under the bonnet is still wrong. Even if they’re not showing any serious lung symptoms.” Prof Jeremy Nicholson, Director, Australian National Phenome Centre
9/Many Canadians are now feeling “sick all the time.” Few realize that #COVID19 renders their immune system weakened and unable to effectively fight other viruses, bacteria or fungal infection. We saw this play out last fall, in our pediatric hospitals.
10/Provincial and territorial Public Health leaders are failing to protect the health and wellbeing of all who call Canada home. We, as concerned citizens along with Covid safety allied groups, are calling for a #CovidAwarenessWeek from April 3 to April 7th.
11/#COVIDAwarenessWeek goal? Provide information so citizens can make informed decisions. Lest we forget that #COVIDIsntOver. It can harm anyone.
As we struggle trying to make safe holiday plans with family again this year, I can't help but wonder about a parallel universe, where the early 2020 speech from leaders went like this:
"There is a strong chance SARS2 is airborne, like SARS1. Go about your business BUT PLEASE WEAR A MASK INDOORS, work from home, eat outdoors or near open windows & scale back large gatherings if possible ...
"Medical masks are plentiful, but not sufficient. We need to reserve the respirators we have for healthcare workers, as we work around the clock to increase Canadian N95 production. In meantime, please see this link on how to use a mask brace, which greatly increases protection.
In today’s press conference, I was upset to hear Dr Bonnie Henry misrepresent the seriousness of the pediatric flu and COVID situation. I am referring to the section of the press conference clipped here:
Below, I have provided the latest data from the national IMPACT network, showing record and climbing pediatric flu hospitalizations. There are reports that 3 children under the age of 10 died recently from complications of flu in BC.
"The precautionary principle states that the highest level of PPE should be used until such time as there is definitive proof that it is not required."
Of course, the #Omicron waves (yes, plural) were deadly in BC. Most of our pediatric hospitalizations and deaths occurred since this letter was written.😥
So, building on this study that @littleann4ever investigated (inc. noting Henry waived ethics on her own paper AGAIN), I decided to make a quick search of Google Scholar as well.
Buckle up. There's something rotten in the state of #bcpoli & Bonnie Henry's office... 🧵
Wouldn't have anything to do with pediatric #InfectionMandate, would it? Wherein ~ 1 in 5 #COVID19 cases in Canada were in kids (who were the least tested)?
How many now have serious diabetes, cardiac, organ inflammation, psychiatric issues? #MorallyBankrupt
Okay, so I checked the wastewater again, and it was vastly different. Excluding the latest data, I zoomed again on the same time frame. Upward trends last week are now downward? @GovCanHealth can you please explain?!
I heard back (thanks @GovCanHealth for being speedy & thorough 💕).
Re: discrepancies TL:DR data error & correction
Samples collected by Metro Van & analysed by BCCDC &National Microbiology Laboratory
Winnipeg. BCCDC and NML have slightly different methods (🤔). Periodic checks to see how methods are tracking.
