#Jatt Chief Sardar Attar Singh Dhillon of #Manimajra who was the Chief of Faridkot State forces and #PrimeMinister to H.H Bijendra Singh and H.H Maharaja Harinder Singh #Brar of #Faridkot. Circa 1936 Image
The present condition of the #ManimajraFort is not good and it is deteriorating day by day. The premises is being used as a playground or for parking vehicles by people living in the adjoining area. The walls are decaying and #weed growth is visible on the walls ImageImageImageImage
As per Mahan Kosh, #ManiMajra was a town of (then) Ambala district of #Punjab Province, which was conquered in 1821 by a local zamindar-#GhareebDass along with 84 other villages and turned into the capital of his newly created State. ImageImage
The State was last ruled by
#BhagwanSingh of the clan of Ghareeb Dass. As Bhagwan Singh was childless, the #Government took #control of the property of this #ManimajraFort Image
#ManimajraFort, is a fort situated in Mani Majra, #Chandigarh Capital of #Punjab. It is over 360 years old and has become more popular with the shooting of the #Oscar-winning #movie
#ZeroDarkThirty

The film dramatizes manhunt for #OsamaBinLaden, leader of the #AlQaeda Image
Lepel H. Griffin writes:
#GharibDas was the founder of the #Manimajra family. After the death of Zin Khan, the #Governor of #Sirhind, and the break up of the Imperial power, he took possession of 84 villages, which is father Ganga Ram had held as a revenue officer for the Empire,
and further extended his territory by seizing the fort of #Pinjor.
#PinjorFort . Here the Raja of #Nahan attacked him, but without success ; and placing his father in charge, #GharibDas left intent on fresh conquest. It was during his absence that the Raja of Nahan having Image
obtained aid from Patiala, attacked the fort as described in the text, and captured it,GangaRam being slain. GharibDas hastened back, but was not strong enough to attempt to recapture the fort. He,however, expelled the Nahan Raja from Chandangarh, which he had captured shortly before. Image
GharibDas died in 1783,leaving two sons, GopalSingh and ParkashChand. The elder of these did excellent service in 1809, and again in the Gurkha campaign of 1814.
Sir D.Ochterlony was about to recommend him for a new #jagir, but he requested instead the title of Raja, which was given to him.
He died in 1816, and was succeeded by #HamirSingh, who only survived his father a few years. #GoverdhanSingh, his son, was loyal in 1845, and gave a detachment which was engaged at #Mudki and elsewhere. He died in 1847, and was succeeded by #GurbakshSingh, Image
who died in 1866, when his younger brother #BhagwanSingh, now 22 years of age, inherited the estate of 77 villages worth Rs. 38,458 a year.
The Chief of #Manimajra again attack
according to Lepel H. Griffin
writes: #RajaAmarSingh of #Patiala
(in Pic)had not forgotten the doubtful contest, in 1768, with #GharibDas of Manimajra and Sirdar Hari Singh of #Sialba and #Ropar, and, in 1778,👇 Image
he determined to reduce these Chiefs under his authority. The estates of the first named were in the plain,

where the river Gaggar debouches from the hills, and the Patiala force, before Gharib Das had time to summon his friends to his assistance,👇
had overrun the country and forced him to shut himself up in his fort For three months he held out bravely, but seeing no prospect of release from his position, he offered a large sum of money to the Patiala Chief to retire and leave him in undisturbed possession of his estate. ImageImageImageImage

Bad Conditions of Guru Ghar in #Nepal #Sikh #GuruNanak
Location : Bishnumati,Kathmandu Nepal

Image
