#Aleppo: It has been reported that two members of the "Suquor Al-Shamal" militia were killed by bullets from the US occupation forces during clashes in the Jarablus camp, east of Aleppo, while helicopters are still flying over the area.

Two US soldiers injured in airlift operation in northern Syria

Two US soldiers were reportedly critically wounded on 17 April during an airdrop operation in the northern #Syrian city of Jarablus near the Turkish border, local sources said.

The airdrop operation resulted in heavy clashes between US soldiers and members of the Turkish-backed Syrian National Army (SNA) militant coalition, which controls Jarablus.

According to the sources, US troops were pursuing an individual by the name of Abu Talib al-Safirani, a former ISIS leader who had joined the ranks of the SNA.

The SNA coalition is made up of several Free Syrian Army (FSA) groups and Islamist factions, including the Jaish al-Islam and Ahrar al-Sham extremist groups. It is known to have many former ISIS fighters and commanders in its ranks.

The troops surrounded Safirani’s house, where several gunmen were stationed, five of whom were wanted by the US army, according to the sources. The soldiers reportedly besieged the house and evicted the residents before intense gunfire broke out.

Three militants from the SNA’s Northern Falcon Brigade were killed in the clashes, reportedly while attempting to target US helicopters with gunfire. The two wounded US soldiers were airlifted to Washington’s base near the city of Ain al-Arab in the Aleppo countryside.
The sources went on to say that US forces arrested two people from the house. Calm returned to the area after the US helicopters withdrew to their bases. One of the helicopters was reported to have incurred heavy damages.
However, US Central Command (CENTCOM) released a statement denying any US casualties and claiming that no helicopters were damaged in the operation. Image

According to CENTCOM, the target was responsible for “planning terror attacks in the Middle East and Europe.” Image

These operations fall within the context of Washington’s fight against ISIS, which many have suggested is superficial and is used as a pretext to maintain the US illegal occupation of Syria and the control of its natural resources.

As a result of this continued illegal occupation, attacks against US illegal bases in Syria have recently surged. These recent attacks have resulted in the death of at least one US serviceman and the injury of nearly two dozen.
