K-8 Students search for books within their tested reading level that they are interested in reading. Books in the #library are divided up by Book Level so students can easily find a book within their reading level. π
Students can also utilize the AR Bookfind website to find books within their tested reading range. With each book they read, they take a test in order for that book to count as a book that they read for class. If they donβt pass the test, they have to take it again. π
There are goals each quarter for the number of books a student should strive to read and it is usually given a grade based on how many they are able to read towards the goal. π
Students pretty much ONLY read AR level books during this time in order to get a good grade for that assignment. There is some group reading in class as well. π
In high school, students donβt have these types of constraints but rather read specific teacher assigned literature, text excepts or comprehension literature pieces. Most students donβt do extra-curricular reading, which is a shame. πππ
So the next time a #MomsForLiberty βMomβ clutches their pearls and attempts to #banbooks, itβs clear they have ABSOLUTELY ZERO children in our #publicschools and have no interest in ensuring ALL Students have access to a HIGH quality #publiceducation but want to #defundeducation.
