Let's talk @SLMPD and surrounding @stlcountypd and explain some of the broader issues with the police in St. Louis.
The biggest issue is of course that @SLMPD is the most VIOLENT police department in the country, by far.

When it comes to crime clearance rates (solved crimes), @SLMPD falls below the national average in every category.
In 2016, @SLMPD had a clearance rate of 50%. The national average is 64%.

Between 1/2013 and 6/30/2017 @SLMPD killed 28 people (at least 2? since then). 23 of those killed were African American.

Police across the US arrest protesters en masse, publish their names and photos on Twitter, and then drop the cases. Activists endure abuse, doxing, lost jobs, and long-term harassment as a result: theguardian.com/us-news/2018/a…
In St. Louis, police surrounded and arrested 33 protesters, many for "failure to disperse," then published their names and home addresses on Twitter. Nearly all of them never faced any charges.
.@berkeleypolice have repeatedly arrested protesters for carrying "banned weapons," including scarves, bandanas and signs – and then posted their names and mugshots on Twitter. They rarely face charges and are almost never convicted.
