1. In Mississippi, the cost of CSR is a particularly big deal, because 80% of exchange enrollees get CSR benefits (versus 57% nationally).

And the cost has been added to ALL Magnolia plan premiums, not just silver plans @EyeOnInsurance

2. Magnolia is the only insurer in Mississippi's exchange. The initial proposed rate ↑ was 18-21%, based on assumption that fed. government would continue to fund CSR.

When they revised that assumption (correctly, since CSR funding did end), the average increase was 47.3%

3. In most states, CSR cost was added to silver plan premiums, resulting in much larger premium subsidies & ultra-low-cost (or even free) bronze plans for some enrollees.

But in Mississippi, the cost of CSR has been added to premiums for ALL of Magnolia's ACA-compliant plans

4. Premium subsidies are much larger in Mississippi for 2018 (vs 2017), because silver plan rates have increased considerably. But so have rates at other metal levels.

A spot-check of rates indicates that after-subsidy rates are a little lower in 2018, but not dramatically so.

5. And yet year-over-year enrollment is trending much higher. In the first 25 days, enrollment was up 50% over similar time frame last year healthinsurance.org/mississippi-st…

But open enrollment is also much shorter this year - it ends 12/15, so don't delay!
