This is a Canadian study that took FFQs from people at baseline and followed ~4500 people for twelve years. The results were interesting if not overwhelming. sciencedirect.com/science/articl…
Contrary to most studies, monounsaturated fats were associated with increased heart disease, but total fat and SFA were also associated with CHD. The association for SFA was the strongest and MUFA was the weakest.
In addition, carbohydrate exerted a protective effect on CHD in this study. The same caveats hold with this study as many others. Single FFQ, relatively homogenous study. Yet once again this study showed a significant association between CHD and SFA.
