Kansas attorney Sue Becker made two demonstrably false claims about me & @ProPublica today in court. 1) my interview recording of Hans Von Spakovsky the ACLU entered into evidence was not secret. My phone was in his face and he knew who I was. 2) the ACLU does not fund ProPublica
I’m sitting behind them as they continue now for the second day to insult me and ProPublica in court bc of this recording. On Friday I asked to interview Kobach about the claims, I was denied but told they’d answer qs by email. I sent them. No response.
Kobach’s spokesperson has denied my interview requests, saying he’s not doing any interviews during the trial. He’s done at least two with local media.

Anyway I’m going back into court now to continue sitting right behind them bc that’s the row for credentialed media
I asked Sue Becker where she got information the ACLU funded @ProPublica. “I think from your website.” That’s not on our website. The ACLU does not fund us. I asked Kobach’s spokesperson, “No comment,” she said.
The spokesperson said I would get no answers until after the trial. She did not answer why she’s giving some reporters interviews and not other. She said when she told me I could email questions over the weekend she “didn’t specify” when she’d get back. Then she walked away.
I just want to add here that I’ve asked Kobach for interviews since it was announced in May he’d lead the presidential commission. All have been ignored or denied. The only time he’s ever spoken to me was when I followed him around the room at the 2nd (and last) commission mtg
That’s the same meeting I asked von Spakovsky the questions now being used as evidence - which they claim was a “secret recording.” I was there wearing a media badge, notebook in hand, phone extended, asking questions with multiple other reporters.
