Hot off the press! The #UK has just announced its proposed contribution to the 21st replenishment of the @WorldBank’s International Development Assistance Fund (IDA). Why does this announcement matter and is the proposed amount high enough, from an #African perspective?
First - a little warning: This thread might get a bit “wonkish” - as Brits say - but we will try to explain it as simply as possible…

First, it’s worth knowing that in order to exist, the IDA relies on contributions from donor countries which it collects every three years. These fundraising cycles are referred to as “replenishments”. The 21st replenishment (IDA21) will happen next month in Seoul, Korea. That’s why the #UK is making its announcement of how much it plans to contribute.
