Juneteenth is to be commemorated more than celebrated.

I know media has coined “Happy Juneteenth”, but would we say “Happy End of the Holocaust” to Jewish people? Bc slavery was just that, a genocide torture camp that legally lasted for 246yrs, for context the holocaust was 4yrs For many Juneteenth was unheard of until 2-3years ago so its history is greyed, but it’s important to know.

On June 19, 1865, some of the last Enslaved persons were told that they were actually free. But Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation of Proclamation on January 1, 1863

This year y’all are saying masks caused immunity debt & last year you said mask didn’t work to protect against diseases…PICK A SIDE.

Let me tell you what likely happened, the COVID you allowed to run rampant by refusing masks impaired people’s immune system. Children included. Y’all act like we don’t have several viruses showing us how they cause permanent influence on the body:
🔹HIV: immune system
🔹HSV: nervous system
🔹EBV: Multiple Sclerosis
🔹HTLV: cancers
🔹HPV: cancers
🔹Hep B & C: cancers

Hear me when I say, physicians must unionize. It’s a matter of public safety.
We’re facing a deficit of 139,000 doctors by 2033. Our “normal” work week is 60-80hrs. There’s no such thing as a holiday. Yet reimbursement is continually cut.

Why? Bc we’re working while they lobby. Image We have more students going into administration than medical school. Why? Take one guess.

You can’t have it cost $300,000 in student loans to earn a medical degree, work someone 60-80 hrs/week, ask them to sacrifice holidays/weekends/family & then EXPECT the field to thrive.

The fact that Black Mothers have been allowed to die at this rate for generations w/o change to the practice of medicine, structure of communities, & confrontation of the direct impact stress/poverty has on our bodies makes me question when you scream #BLM do you really mean it? What kills us?
🔹Access: Lack of prenatal care/hospitals in our community
🔹Medical Racism: bias of protocols & providers for treatments/rate of c-sections
🔹Policy racism: if maternal deaths include up to 1yr after delivery then WHY does health insurance cover only 6-8weeks?

Covering ICU this week and FYI to whomever needs to hear it:
COVID attacks your brain, lungs, heart, liver, kidneys, intestines, immune system, and clogs up your blood vessels like a dirty pipe.

You don’t want it.

Wear a mask. Get Vaccinated. If you’re all of a sudden having weird symptoms: extreme fatigue, numbness/pain, chest pain, acid reflux, irritable bowel, shortness of breath, dizziness, changes in senses, onset of diabetes or other autoimmune diseases, & you previously had COVID… you’ve now entered Long COVID

A few questions sparked by my hotel & airport:
1) Why do public faucet handles on sinks and turning dials in showers not come w/ braille for the visually impaired?
2) Why are the numbers for the floors written in braille but not the attractions/maps on those floors?🧵 3) Why are showers/tubs not built to for BMI> 35
4) Why are there not sign language interpreters on monitors throughout the airport to relay audible announcements?
5) Elevators aren’t designed for wheelchair turnings so hard to press buttons once in, including EMERGENCY button

To whom it may concern,
Today a noose was tied to the neck of a statue on university campus. One statement of denouncement will not be enough.

This cowardly act comes from someone emboldened by the “let both sides speak”. Racism, at the first utterance, must be canceled at go. There is no both-sides-ism.

🔹You are either racist, or you are not.
🔹You are either homophobic, or you are not.
🔹You are either a misogynist, or you are not.

The way we will be able to tell the difference is by the actions you take…or not.

It’s that simple.

It’s hard being a Black physician.

You match the demographic of those w/ the worst outcomes & you have to sit on panels, screaming until red in the face, w/ racing heart as you repeatedly explain the ways policy & protocol lead to death & demise of people who look just like you You get to hear as others applaud a “job well done” in management of a public health crisis as you stare at the racial health disparities data… the same exact data they just reported.

It does not HIT them the same. It never will and it ends up on YOUR shoulder to carry.

Really boggles my mind when I hear medical providers make the same exact error in messaging for #Monkeypox as they did w/ #COVID. They say, “do not panic”-as if that would be the answer in any situation- but saying that suggests there is little to worry about. And that’s a lie 🧵 We have the colliding of 2 pandemics, one wh/ largely left people visibly unscarred so they walked around asymptomatic but contagious, & beat their chests demanding “freedom” from taking precautionary measures…& w/ barking corporations & public outcry, presiding agencies buckled

It starts as a “simple infection” until YEARS later it becomes:

Long HIV…AIDS
Long HPV…Cervical Cancer
Long EBV…Multiple Sclerosis
Long HSV…Alzheimer’s
Long HCV…Liver Cancer

CURRENTLY 1 in 13 Americans already have #LongCOVID.

We don’t know how this story ends

I swear every time I see one of these posts I think about our ancestors. They died for us to have what they prayed they could do.

If you don’t see a candidate you like on the ballot…RUN yourself. But what in the world does NOT voting do but allow other people to control outcome When I see these posts it also reinforces the idea that in the same way we’ve failed to teach basic biology, embryology, and virology in this pandemic we’ve also failed in teaching civics. How government works. How policy is formed. And how it takes MORE than just one person.

10 Black people were shot dead for no damn reason other than being Black and y’all want to talk about teeth.

Not today. Not ever. Them: well @oneunderscore__ wanted to deep dive to understand.

Me: Understand what? This is NOTHING new. Black ppl have been terrorized by “White Radicals” since 1619. And every time y’all want to scratch up a theory as to why. It’s the same $@/& as last time.

Rinse & repeat

I’m not going to lie, this Buffalo shooting has hit to my core. Hate has a way of disturbing all peace. They were just shopping for food in a community already greatly deprived of resources. The only store available.

White people, talk to your family.
Open your mouths. And talk. Image This whole, “we don’t talk about politics bc it just causes fights at the dinner table” BS has GOT to stop. Hell, we want to be able to live long enough to have a disagreement at a damn dinner table, too!
We want to be able to go to church, grocery store, movie theater, & school.

Y’all have the nerve to publish stuff like this when Black & Brown Children are STILL 2x more likely to be hospitalized, 5x more likely to die & make up 65% of the kids now ORPHANED due to #COVID.

Stop blaming it on lack of in person learning. These kids were battling to live!🧵 How about instead write about the fact we have STILL not repaired the ventilation systems in the schools that is leading to more Black And Brown children getting infected. We have NOT provided social support services to address the fact that their parents died at higher rates.

Don’t tell me to respect the constitution when I had to be an amendment… twice. I will scrutinize it’s legitimacy as a governing document on the same exact level that it scrutinized my legitimacy as a human being.

If Black People die at YOUNGER ages and HIGHER rates for Breast Cancer, Colorectal Cancers, Lung Cancers, Prostate cancers, etc. Then why are we NOT granted screenings at younger ages?! Don’t group us with the screening age of White Americans IF WE DO NOT DIE AT THAT AGE. 🧵 AND HOW, in this free world where we speak of inhumane acts committed by others, do we allow the conditions that LEAD to the development of these conditions in targeted neighborhoods? The poisoning of air/water supply dictated by policies supporting industrialization over people?

Them: We’re short staffed. We don’t have teachers, bus drivers, restaurant workers, delivery persons, nursing aides… people don’t want to work!

Me: It could be that… or maybe it’s that 715,000 people have died…& currently another 1 is dying every 47seconds. They were “staff” Let me clarify a point, #Death is not the only thing that can keep someone from working, #disability can too. Studies show 20-50% of #COVIDinfections results in #LongCOVID. Well, 61% of the 44M Americans w/ #COVID are 18-74yo… that’s 27,454,517.

America, we have a problem

All of this. #MyStanceHasNotChanged.
The fact that we willingly expose our kids to #COVID19 is beyond me. Opening schools knowing full well structural racism exists preventing adequate social distancing & the lack of proper ventilation is a setup for further #RacialDisparities ▶️ 25% of Black 9th graders are in classrooms w/ >40 students: 2x rate of Hispanics, 3x rate of Whites
▶️ Urban vs Rural, 12.5x more likely to be overcrowded
▶️ richest 10% of districts spend 10x more than poorest 10%: literally use old buildings w/ poor ventilation & high lead

Unacceptable, but very intentional.

We can not play surprised when:
🔹Phase 1a is 70% White
🔹 Phase 1b (65+yo) are 77% White
🔹 70% of pharmacies are in white neighborhoods
🔹 Black/Brown communities are 2x less likely to have hospital
🔹Registrations require WiFi
#DebateMe #BlackAndBrown Americans basically have to had entered into 2020 with #OneOrganAlreadyFailing before they can qualify for the #COVIDvaccine at this point, aka #PreExistingConditions.

Dear @VP Pence,
I wanted to give you a few tips as you begin to prepare for your debate w/ @SenKamalaHarris. It’s on the nuances of arguing w/ a black woman.
1)If she says, “First of all”, know that you’ve already lost. she is about to read you for all of your life. Take cover 2) If she lets you continue to talk and tilts her head to the side with a little smirk... you are about to get BODIED with facts. She peeped your lie and is allowing you to dig that hole that you will want to crawl in when she’s done. If you see it, stop mid sentence. Give in.
