Never mind the milkshake. The real #Clacton story is that Nigel Farage is being escorted by fraudster & convicted felon "Posh George" Cottrell.

More on Cottrell and various other crooks with whom Farage has close links in this by me for @BylineTimes.
bylinetimes.com/2023/07/24/far…
Image It is indeed George Cottrell with Farage in Clacton. After serving time in the US, he changed his name to George Co & moved to Montenegro, from which he made an abrupt exit after some very murky & allegedly illegal business involving cryptocurrency.

This is shocking but very far from surprising.

Topham Guerin worked with the Tories' election strategist Isaac Levido on the deeply dishonest 2019 general election campaign.

Palantir is a client of Levido's lobbying firm Fleetwood Strategy.

A small (but very lucrative) world. I wrote about Isaac Levido, Topham Guerin, Palantir & the intersection between dark money-funded corporate lobbying & political dirty tricks for @BylineTimes.

The Tories' general election campaign will be the dirtiest we've ever seen.

When UKIP won 166 councillors (but no councils) in 2014 the BBC called this a "political earthquake".

@TheGreenParty just gained 200 councillors, taking the total to 737, took control of a council & became the biggest party in several others.

But 0 Green guests on #bbclaurak. ImageImage That said, the BBC has many excellent journalists, locally & nationally - here's BBC News East reporting in depth on why the Green Party did so well in Suffolk. The political bias comes from much higher up within the organisation.

The photo of Nigel Farage embracing Andrew Tate was taken at the 2019 CPAC conference, where Tate was also pictured with an assortment of other far-right creeps incl. Paul Joseph Watson & Jack Posobiec.

Tate was already notorious for his vicious misogyny. Later that year. Andrew Tate invited some of his far-right pals to Romania, including Mike Cernovich (famous for claiming that date rape "does not exist"). Cernovich tweeted that it was a "first class event".

1/ Liz Truss's government is clearly trying to destroy the (already degraded) social contract that underwrote the NHS and the post-war welfare state.

It's doing this on the basis of an extreme version of Hayek's "free-market" ideology, the moving spirit of Britannia Unchained. 2/ Crises present good opportunities for ideologically motivated extremists to push through policies that might have seemed unthinkable before, as Naomi Klein described in The Shock Doctrine.

Pinochet imposed precisely the same sort of ideology on Chile after seizing power.

Look, Carrie Johnson was eminently suited to a ÂŁ100k FO job. Here she is in 2012 with the Russian Ambassador at the launch of Conservative Friends of Russia, set up by the later CEO of Vote Leave with the help of Russian agent Sergey Nalobin.
#Carriegate
westcountryvoices.co.uk/tough-times-fo… ...at least, I'm pretty sure this is Carrie Johnson (then Symonds). Also pictured here is John Whittingdale MP, a founder member of Conservative Friends of Russia, whom she accompanied to this delightful event, where raffle prizes included a biography of Putin.

Both Hitler & Mussolini hated lawyers and often abused them. They saw the rule of law as a barrier to their exercise of absolute power, in the name of "the will of the people".

Key point that's being missed about Rishi Sunak's Energy Profits Levy (#WindfallTax) on oil & gas profits: companies will be able offset investment in new fossil fuel extraction against their taxable profit. That's exactly what they'll do.

This tax is highly damaging to climate. That's why Rishi Sunak didn't simply raise the existing Supplementary Charge on N. Sea oil & gas. That also allows investment offsets but not as big & only after profits from investment are booked.

The fossil fuel interests that fund the Tory Party will be delighted.

If you were thinking of a stay at the Camelot Castle Hotel in Tintagel, you may like to know that its proprietor, John Mappin, is a big fan of Putin's invasion of Ukraine.

There are other reasons you might want to give it a miss, as I described here:
westcountryvoices.co.uk/qanon-in-cornw… Image John Mappin may seem like a deranged fantasist, but he has some interesting connections.

He is, for example, chair & director of this exceeding fishy outfit, fronted up by his fellow Putin fan Nigel Farage, which I wrote about for @WCountryVoices.

The right to protest is crucial to democracy.
Priti Patel’s #PoliceBill aims to remove this right.

It would allow the government to stop any protest & create a police state.

Find out how you can help @TheGreenParty's #ProtestIsNotACrime campaign here:

drive.google.com/file/d/1qav_CQ… The #PoliceBill is now even more dangerous after "amendments" were added without proper scrutiny or debate.

These would make it even easier for peaceful protesters to be prosecuted & jailed for up to 51 weeks.

Will @UKLabour vote against them in the Lords?

It's going to be PM Rishi Sunak, isn't it? Looks like probably sooner rather than later.

Sunak is smart & personable, but his "free-market", "fiscally conservative" ideology is absolutely lethal - & especially disastrous in the context of Covid & the #ClimateEmergency. I suspect Boris Johnson does not actually want to remain PM for much longer. He's essentially lazy & would rather be raking in easy money from speeches & articles. A determined push from Sunak & his backers would probably oust him quite easily.

Sunak has a lean & hungry look.

Boris Johnson met with Belarus opposition leader Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya today.

Johnson & the corrupt dictator Lukashenko have some common traits.

They took the same nonachalant approach to visiting Covid wards.

Johnson's party has taken funds from sources close to Putin... ... Johnson's government is planning to restrict people's right to peaceful protest. And the UK & Belarus are the only two countries in Europe that still have a first-past-the-post electoral system.

1/ One of the biggest anti-vax, anti-lockdown accounts on Twitter is the so called Anti Lockdown Alliance (GLOBAL). It tweets in several languages but mostly English - all the usual bullsh*t conspiracy theories, about the "Great Reset", Bill Gates, etc... 2/ Here it is sharing a Sputnik article in Portuguese suggesting the virus was created by Bill Gates and George Soros. The Anti Lockdown Alliance often tweets stuff from Russian propaganda media controlled by Putin's mafia state...

Nor surprised to see a 'Trump 2024' flag at the so-called #freedomrally in London.

These crowds always include a large far-right element, as well as deluded #COVIDIOTS who have watched too many dodgy Youtube videos. Image Fascists have always seized on & weaponised any means of stoking paranoia & resentment. The influenza epidemic at the end of WW1 helped create conditions for the rise of fascism, and this pandemic may well be doing the same.

ThREAD: To understand where Boris Johnson's culture war is heading, the case of Spiked is instructive - and not just because his senior adviser Munira Mirza is a veteran of the former far-left & now far-right cult. 1/ 2/ Spiked grew out of a Marxist sect that called itself the Revolutionary Communist Party. It prided itself on being truer to the methods of Lenin & Trotsky than its far-left competitors. Members saw themselves a vanguard elite that would kick the working class into revolution…

Steve Baker's CRG (Covid Recovery Group) is basically the ERG (European Research Group, aka hard-Brexit nutters) under a new name.

One suspects the CRG understands about as much about epidemiology as the ERG understood about trade with Europe. The European Research Group (ERG) never managed to work out what the EU is & why it matters, despite its supposed "research".

The Covid Recovery Group (CRG) seems to have little idea how Covid works & what it will take to recover from it.

Both basically disinformation outfits.

The govt has announced in a press release that Cambridge Analytica CEO Alexander Nix has been disqualified as company director for 7 yrs for offering "unethical" political services.

Boris Johnson says he "can't remember" why he met with Nix when he was Foreign Secretary in 2016. Image Tactfully, the govt press release doesn't mention Cambridge Analytica's role in #Brexit, or that a sister company of CA was paid by Dominic Cummings & Vote Leave to place 1.5 billion highly dishonest ads on UK voters' Facebook pages in the days leading up to the 2016 referendum.

So Steve Bannon has been arrested and charged with running a fraudulent "We Build the Wall" fundraising scheme.

Nigel Farage credited Bannon with Leave's win in 2016. Farage's fundraising schemes are also extremely "interesting". Image Farage's former PA "Posh George" Cottrell served time for a fraud that involved offering to launder drug money on the dark web. Head of referendum fundraising for UKIP, he's also linked to Arron Banks & to Russian entities involved in money-laundering.
