Only 30% of the 5M units of children's medication paid for by the province ($75M) was ever shipped to Alberta and even less has been used. More than 50 research scientist and clinicians have signed an open letter expressing concerns with a report submitted to the Alberta special committee to examine safe supply. #abpoli #ableg It says: "This report fails to adhere to best standards for evidence reviews... due primarily to its problematic search strategy, which resulted in the exclusion of key studies (and) a number of irrelevant studies being included. There are, however, many other shortcomings."

Another 122 Albertans died from unintentional drug overdoses in May, according to updated provincial data. This brings the death toll to 624 in the first five months of 2021 — a 41 per cent increase from the same time period in 2020. #abpoli #abhealth The rate of drug poisoning in the province during May was 32.4 per 100,000 people.
