Thread on the curious manner by which @Reuters chose to cover the decision issued by the Tripoli Appeals Court which explicitly prohibits the interim GNU from entering any agreements pertaining to #Libya's sovereignty and strategic assets. reuters.com/business/energ… 1/-) Omissions: 1. "Tripoli government" is an interim and expired government. Full contents of Hydrocarbon MOU publicly accessible since Oct 6 and yet there is no reference to its full contents or a link to the primary source despite being crucial context for today's decision.

Speaking Volumes: Ghariani, based in Istanbul after being kicked out of the UK, supports Dbeiba coup.

On Manchester bomber's dad: "His father also showed support for an imam in #Libya called Sadiq Al-Ghariani, who had "authorised" suicide attacks.."
news.sky.com/story/manchest… Not the first coup Ghariani has supported. Remember Operation Dawn that plunged #Libya into the abyss, midwifed its divide and turned Tripoli into a gangster's paradise. Fun Fact: Bashaga was co-supporter along with UNSC sanctioned war criminal Salah Badi.

⬇️@DanishMFA this is deeply concerning and offensive to Libyans and all victims of terrorism from Benghazi, to Manchester, to New York to Raqqa.

Due to endemic corruption and lack of democracy in #Libya, we do not choose our government, who in turn choose representatvies abroad

1/2) There's also the Arab Barometer Report for #Libya. Field period was 19 Jan 2019 to 11 April 2019

Ongoing militia rule in capital, shared hostility towards Misrata in Benghazi+Tripoli, Turkish occupation and influx of Syrian mercenaries may even have driven numbers upwards. 2/2) Report: arabbarometer.org/wp-content/upl…

2. Misrata is #Libya's Islamist stronghold. Coalition of Misratan Islamist militias "Operation Dawn" invaded Tripoli in '14 following loss of elex. Even prior receiving support from the GNC, TU+QA, funneling arms+fighters to Benghazi/East

Tip: When the word "warlord" is used to smear a government official appointed to his post by the only internationally recognized, democratically elected parliament of #Libya, it's a pretty good sign that the rest of the article will also contain other Islamist propaganda and lies 1/2) Patient X of Libya related fake news: Both terrorist orgs such as Al-Qaeda+Qatari-funded outlets first used the term "warlord," "Kafir,"+"Zionist" (classic) to smear Haftar, appointed by the parliament to combat #Libya's terrorist and militia problem and restore sovereignty.

⚡️Another Libyan woman takes a powerful stand against spoilers in the LPDF attempting to defraud #Libya|ns of elections.

First violent coup by Islamists took place in 2014 when their parties lost elex.

Williams packed them in the LPDF to give them a backdoor for a soft coup. Rather than accept the elections result Islamist leaders in #Libya accused the new parliament.." theguardian.com/world/2014/aug…

📽️⚡️Clip #6 from my interview with @alsyaaq: How can America help #Libya?

1. Dismantle the militia cartel in the capital. Read more about them here: swp-berlin.org/en/publication…
2. Enforce oversight on CBL
3. Remove all foreign mercenaries
4. Ensure free and fair elections in Dec. The following is an excellent thread giving but a snapshot of what I like to call the "crime-terror-government nexus" in #Libya and how public funds were used to finance terrorist organizations that terrorized Libyans and the American missions too.

Bashaga, the "interior minister" who roams around #Tripoli with a convoy of 60 cars (read: personal militia) has been desperate for attention lately.

Next time, perhaps the LPDF's biggest loser can try Tik Tok or the Ice Bucket challenge instead and stop wasting everyone's time I expect @Reuters to update and correct their article accordingly. Perhaps next time, they can also engage in the old school tradition of fact-checking before serving as an amplifier for the delusions of a corrupt politician who has a record of lies as long as his convoy. #Libya

To the backdrop of an international PR campaign, recall that 34 members of the "LPDF" voted to empower Fathi Bashaga -and failed spectacularly.

MB-backed Bashaga is one of the architects of the "Operation Dawn" militia alliance that sacked Tripoli in 2014 and onwards. #Libya Further updates:

Except these red herring merchants got the side completely wrong and appeared to have been projecting #Tripoli onto #Benghazi. No small feat. Thread. Decades of non-Muslims carrying the water for Islamist extremists whose primary victims are Muslims.

More insidiously, such obscurantists conflate Islamism with Islam -directly tarnishing the faith and stoking Islamophobia- while camoflaging Islamists in the West. Oct 2020: Aside the "copy and paste" journalism on display below, this is the grossly misleading headlines reporting on the beheading of French school teacher Samuel Paty. These are two major mainstream outlets - not fringe alternative media, Al Jazeera or satire site.
