Coercive interventions like #EndDemand and #NordicModel are knee jerk reaction policies that are not sound economic or social policies and continue to perpetuate stigma, discrimination and increase exploitation and violence. #ListenToSexWorkers and include them in MEANINGFUL ways
Meaningful involvement is not performative. It is not an afterthought. It means including us before you start, while you develop and as you implement programs that affect our lives. And INSIST on having #SexWorkers evaluate the success in an ongoing plan.
The myth has even been debunked by antis-trafficking. Law enforcement has reported this as a myth with heavy spin of course -pivoting to “we are looking for missing kids” or “this a daily thing”. And even @polaris_project started backpedaling in 2016 polarisproject.org/blog/2016/02/t…

Guess who just called #HB851/#SB540 section a REGISTRY in the Statewide Human Trafficking Council Meeting AND that it's a "deterrent"? @RepFitzenhagen!
She also called it REGISTRY in her description when the bill was at the very last minute brought back to House.
