Canada needs to get serious about its neo-Nazi/authoritarian problem. As I been saying forever, last Jan/Feb was the beginning, not a one-time event that is a passing one. These people aren’t playing as the occupation was never about vaccine mandates. Media coverage was a failure at reporting the bigger picture and still spouts this vaccine mandate bs. It was never about the vaccine, it was always about a new epoch for this country. Whether or not the organizers are bosom buddies is irrelevant. They started a movement

That’s quite a ratio I’m guessing it’s because of this (and that it’s anti-trans as hell)

This is the joy white people gaslight out of their children from young. I’ve been noticing the lack of joy in white Anglo culture and how white supremacy robs them of it and robs women of the agency of joy. I am finally understanding that joy is a revolutionary state of being In other words, white supremacy robs white people of joy and more particularly patriarchy robs white women of the agency of joy.
I’m seeing it in real time in Vancouver. Everyone is so scared of losing the little they have they have no room for joy—they have no room to thrive

1. Public support
2. Write your MP (that’s still works)
3. Any sort of safety precautions/make our lives easier is welcome
That’s how the average person can help. But what about the people in news media with power? They are silent #16DaysofActivism Earlier this year I called on the most protected and powerful in journalism to speak out publicly for us—white men and white women—and most of them ignored me and refused. Yet these are the same ppl who will talk about #GBV on Dec 6 as though this isn’t ongoing in their backyard

I’m thinking that the devastation in Pakistan of the floods is a canary in the coal mine of this climate emergency and that the lack of media attention on this issue is a climate injustice #cdnpoli “Pakistan is responsible for around 0.6% of the world's greenhouse gas emissions, even though it makes up nearly 2.7% of the global population”

This is why this is an awkward position for Omar Sachedina and an awkward way of beginning his tenure. And that’s how it was played by corporate. Corporate diversity decisions are still based on white supremacy. The fact they can use our identities as chess pieces is that The Liberals did the same when choosing gender over race for cabinet. Our identities are used as pieces on a chess board as appropriate for corporate branding exercises. It’s still white supremacy as mainly white men are making those decisions #cdnmedia

Alright. I'm on the @blackvotecanada webinar with provincial leaders speaking to the Black community. @CBCAdrianH is moderating. I'm asking an audience question. Here we go. @AndreaHorwath is first. Lemme live-tweet this 🪡 She called out @fordnation for not showing up and I can’t disagree. She talks the unequal impact of the pandemic, systemic racism. Yet doesn’t talk about the police. She tells us that Ford doesn’t give a fuck about Black people. Says the @OntarioNDP does #ontpoli

I find it interesting that for someone who has worked on a few budgets, in fiscal policy at Finance Canada, and an economist, I got one media spot for #Budget2022. Just goes to show that Black women aren't called to talk about important matters like money in #cdnmedia or #cdnpoli If #cdnmedia really wants to diversify then they need to rethink what "experts" look like. And #cdnmedia has determined that people who can speak on issues of finance and economics aren't Black women like myself. There is no representation there #Budget2022

THIS. THIS. THIS.
In my 3-year anniversary at @TheHillTimes, 5 years writing about #cdnpoli from marginalized perspectives, 5 years podcasting about politics, policy and pop culture with @badandbitchy. More people told me I couldn't do it because they couldn't see the vision 🧵 Most people told me that I'd ruin my career if I talked about race, white women and even said the word "white" pertaining to people. I've been doing this #onhere a long time and they were wrong. Why was I right? Because I knew the country I lived in better than them and...

Who uses a credit card to commit mass murder? Has Law & Order taught you nothing? So I was at Palm Sunday service and in the reading it noted that when Jesus came before Herod he kept his mouth shut. See? EVEN JESUS KEPT HIS MOUTH SHUT IN THE FACE OF COPS 🤐

White generational Canadian men really think they know about footy huh?

WILD. I’m at my local and I’ve been inundated by the opinions of white men that don’t reflect reality.

For some reason this time they’re more annoying than usual

So. We threaten people who take CERB and the unvaccinated. K.
I don’t like that people are unvaccinated either. However the response to #COVID has been cocked up by governments of every level and now they’ve found scapegoats for their own malfeasance and ineffectiveness These are the same people who chose big box stores over grandma and lost. They played with people’s lives and lost. And we all lost as a result. The same governments that cut health care at the beginning of this pandemic 😷

A running tape of the incompetence of the Ottawa Police Services Board, led by mayoral candidate @dianedeans. #ottnews

2018: “The Board is confident that Uday reflects all of the necessary qualities to help lead one of the most respected police services in North America.” 2020: "I truly believe that the work this budget will support will bring at least some of the change we so urgently need," @DianeDeans said.

This is in addition to promising a funding freeze in the 2021 budget to #ottcity residents which she then renegged on. #ottnews

Y'all this is a good read "If woke means an awakening to a critical consciousness of structural inequities",

honestly you gotta ask yourself, HOW IS THIS A PEJORATIVE TERM? And why has #cdnmedia adopted it with alacrity as a put-down? Perhaps were we more "woke" we'd have more people alive in COVID

I feel heard.
White people can be terrible hosts. They nickel and dime you for everything. It’s like they don’t know how to give of themselves without equating it to a transaction. They live transactionally and it’s sad bc they don’t know how to be a part of a community This spills over into every part of their lives: their relationships are transactional and therefore lack depth and true emotional support. And if you say something they don’t like they cut off communication because it’s a transaction that didn’t go through to them

I'm loving @AnnamiePaul's resignation speech because she didn't shy away from the fact that the attacks against her have worn her down. That's true, that's real. This is real mental health shit #cdnpoli The @canadiangreens kneecapped her then engaged in the gaslighting which is what many BIPOC experience in leadership positions. You can't window-dress and expect to solve everything

So I have thoughts... The anti-vaxxers/maskers are experiencing a restriction of movement under public health order. Is it discriminatory? Perhaps, however this is where individual rights vs the greater good come into play and all democracies have that exception to freedom

This is the best climate speech I've ever heard. Reminds us that some of those leading this issue are those vulnerable island states
#ClimateCrisis "What we need is fiscal and policy space to achieve sustainable development, to be nimble, to adapt and to innovate in ways that allow us to be true and faithful to the task of bringing prosperity to our people"

Trudeau is going to try to shirk responsibility:
