#Solidarity with the 75 survivors on #Maridive601. After 3 days they are still not allowed to disembark. Although they were in distress in international waters, #Italian and #Maltese authorities ignored them. This is a violation of international law and #maritime conventions!
Tunisia is not a safe place for #refugees. Yet, ppl on board need medical attention, food, water and shelter. Due to #EU negligence we have no other option than to ask Tunisian authorities to let them disembark in Zarzis & to guarantee that they will not be deported to #Libya!
We also call on European authorities to respond to distress calls with adequate rescue instead of non-assistance and to re-settle these people to #Europe, where many cities have declared their #solidarity. Full statement here: alarmphone.org/en/2019/06/03/…
Over fifteen days after rescue, 75 #migrants are still trapped on board the commercial ship Maridive 601 near the Tunisian coast. #Tunisia refuses to let them land and wants to make them "go home". @Refugees
The survivors, half of them minors and the majority from Bangladesh, fear deportation. We support their demand to be allowed to land and to find a safe refuge in #Europe. #safepassage
