#France Prsdt @EmmanuelMacron believes he has more chances to be re-elected if he "solves" the current crisis in #Lebanon. @wallacemick told me yesterday in a café that Macron may be re-elected only if he builds - metaphorically- a wall with #Turkey. Lebanon is the wrong path.
In fact, Macron maybe imitating President Trump who supports #Israel to get re-elected for a second term. But the Lebanese lobby in France doesn't have the weight needed. Moreover, #France is expected to fail in its attempt to force a government to its liking in #Beirut.
I don't understand why #France can't understand that Speaker Berri & #Hezbollah shld facilitate the French initiative when #Paris is an accomplice with the US in mounting the number of sanctions on the duo group that, along with its allies, are the strongest at the parliament.
Also, why Berri and #Hezbollah should give up on their parliamentary majority and deliver the power to @saadhariri (with only 20 MPs out of 128) who is playing @EmmanuelMacron's proxy in #Lebanon via the nominated PM Mustafa Adib?
#SaudiArabia doesn't want to hear the name of Saad Hariri - who holds both the Saudi and the French passport - therefore he turned to #France to get some legitimacy and Paris expect #Hezbollah and Berri to submit? No logic in the French thinking and can only expect to fail.
Speaker Berri and #Hezbollah can wait to see if Donald Trump will be re-elected and see no obligation towards @EmmanuelMacron who can do nothing to stop the series of sanctions on #Lebanon and the Lebanese.
The #US want to disarm Hezbollah as requested by #Israel, no more no less
#France acknowledge tt #Hezbollah has a political branch but is not against disarming Hezbollah. Macron is against the solicitation the issue of Hezbollah'weapon now. No more, no less.
Can anyone think why Hezbollah should give up on its majority and support Macron or his proxy?
US sanctions today Sultan Khalifah As’ad, the assistant to Sayyed Hashem Safieddine and the head of all municipalities under #Hezbollah. He is involved in infrastructure and civilian and not military projects. +
#US sanctioned also Meamar Construction company that has several recycling contracts with the Lebanese government and employs thousands of Lebanese. These US sanctions hit above all the population and not #Hezbollah. Sanctions contribute in crippling further the Lebanese economy.
