Trump notes 100th million test, but ignores the milestones of 7.1+ million infected with #COVID19 & 205,000 dead.

Trump says 100 million rapid tests will be distributed to states.

And many today not wearing #masks

[Reminder: #COVID19 started spreading in the U.S. nine months ago. Nine months & 205,000 now dead & 7.1+ million infected.]

BUT ... Of those 100 million promised rapid #COVID19 tests to states, only 6.5 million tests will be shipped this week.

#pandemic #TestingTestingTesting #SchoolsReopening

Again, Trump goes on & on about tests, but ignores completely the 205,000 Americans now dead & 7.1 million+ infected with #COVID19.

Trump has repeatedly made false/misleading claim U.S. has more #COVID19 because it conducts more tests.

Reminder: It's nearly October. COVID-19 started spreading in the U.S. in January.

Trump again claims "we're doing very well with a vaccine."

There's no phase 3 evidence yet any of the #COVID19 #vaccines work in preventing the disease.

While Trump admin estimates 100M doses available by end of the year, we don't know if any of those will work.

Why hold an event saying you're going to eventually ship 100M #COVID19 tests but only 6.5M will be going out this week, others taking a number of weeks?

And "free of charge" isn't free of charge

U.S. taxpayers are paying for those tests [Reminder: Trump only pays tiny taxes]

Reminder: #COVID19 tests aren't a treatment or a cure.

Trump calls on his favorite: Scott Atlas -- not an infectious disease expert.

Also, not from @Stanford [he's from its affiliated Hoover Institution. He's not a Stanford professor]

Missing: @CDCDirector Robert Redfield, who said everything Atlas says is "false," per @NBCNews.

Trump takes no questions at #COVID19 tests event.

But those taxes ...

Trump making this move on #COVID19 tests now...not this past spring or even summer.

But now just weeks before #2020elections, he's having U.S. taxpayers pay for 100M tests, which will be shipped over a number of weeks to states [only 6.5M going this week]

So, that election ...

205,000 Americans are dead from #COVID19.

Trump didn't acknowledge that today.

Nothing on the dead. Nothing on the 7.1 million+ in U.S. infected.

Trump earlier wanted testing slowed down.

But now 1st #2020Debate tomorrow

And in what's been a pattern lately, HHS PR on #COVID19 tests today starts with the word "Trump"

And of course, makes no mention of how many in U.S. infected or dead.

#2020Election #2020elections #pandemic #2020Debate

This line in particular in HHS PR: "The fruit of President Trump's effective national testing strategy"

What national strategy? Has anyone seen a national strategy?

Effective?
205,000 Americans are dead & Trump admin is talking about "fruit" of a nonexistent strategy?

#COVID19

And is the cost for 100M #COVID19 tests at U.S. taxpayer expense being taken out of #CDC's budget or some other HHS agency?

Convenient timing for Trump ahead of #2020Debate.

Inconvenient for 205,000 Americans now dead.

Also, the 150M $ABT BinaxNOW #COVID19 diagnostic tests were purchased at taxpayer expense on August 27.

It's Sept. 28. An entire month has gone by.

But that #2020Debate tomorrow ...

And again, only 6.5 million being shipped to states this week of the 100M eventually shipped.

Trump uses taxpayer funds to ship COVID-19 tests to states ahead of 1st debate spglobal.com/marketintellig… #COVID19 #TestingTestingTesting #2020Debate #2020Election $ABT
