Upon the Anniversary of the1980 #Iran-#Iraq war,one of the most devastating&bloody contemporary wars.The clerical regime has launched a series of propaganda shows against its main opposition(#MEK),in a bid to demonize them.
I'll b doing a few threads 4those interested.Plz share!

Thread 1:
In this first thread, let's deal with the question,“Who was responsible for the #Iran-#Iraq war? And why?”
A little background about the circumstances in which the war started:

1)Immediately after the1979 revolution,clerics, started showing their true faces by1st suppressing #women, then the Kurdish people,simultaneously attacking #MEK supporters for their public awareness campaigns.MEK’s popularity increased &more people turned away from the clerics.

2) Khomeini was after establishing his religious empire (Velayat-e Faqih), and pursued a policy of eliminating all his political rivals (at any cost), to which Khomeini sought to activate a foreign conflict to cover up repression and civil war:

3) He first took members of the #US embassy in #Tehran as hostage for444 days. A terrible mistake that added to the humanitarian aspect of it, it brought international isolation for #Iran and the country had to suffer huge losses to compensate for.

4) Shortly after,Khomeini instigated the war W/#Iraq that lasted for 8 devastating years.
He used the war to lock up the country's political climate, it imposed an unintended &full-blown civil war on the #Iranian people, which is still going on.

5)In absence of popular support,creating external crisis, has always been a pillar of the #Iranian regime’s policy to justify the domestic suppression of pple’s just demands i.e. Salman Roshdi’s death verdict,#Iran’s Nuclear stand up, its support 4terrorism in #Iraq,#Syria,etc.

6) Now back to #Iran-#Iraq war. The war officially began on September 22, 1980 by #Iraqi forces bombarding #Tehran &other cities. But the question is who actually plotted and instigated the war?

7) 5 months before the war started, Khomeini, whose words were published at Keyhan state-daily,on April 19, 1980, said: "Saddam Hussein himself is an infidel due to the Islamic ruling &he is a supporter of infidels…

8) Khomeini added: "The Iraqi people must work with all in their power to eliminate this corrupt person…If you revolt and destroy this person and replace him with one of yourself. We will help you run the country of Iraq …"

9)With obvious intentions 2form an Islamic empire,starting W taking over #Iraq,Khomeini added:"I recommend to the Iraqi army, that if they can revolt against this man,they should kill him &replace him,&we will recognize your new government. If not possible they should flee..."

10) Khomeini:"Islam wants to remove borders from the world and form a common state and govern all human beings under one flag and one law." Apparently the first country to be demarcated was #Iraq.(The only country in the region W/majority Shiite Muslim)

11)It goes without saying that though #Iraqi forces started the war,but apparently they fall in to Khomeini's trap.The war was a God given gift for Khomeini to suppress internal opposition &expand its rule to the region.
